I would check out Longines. Very old and respected Swiss watch brand in your price range

Penguin watch on the left was my very first “nice” watch I bought 18 years ago or so. G-Shock is my surfing and active watch. Breitling was a gift from my wife on our 10 year anniversary and is my daily. Citizen was my second “nice” watch I bought 10 years ago or so. Finally, the Longines is a manual watch I inherited from my father when he passed, but it is too gold and small for my taste so doesn’t really get worn.
