If you jump into your own space - ie up - that would make sense to be a foul if someone is there and makes foul contact. If you go into someone else's space, that would not be a foul.
It's just rare for all this to happen standing still. People are moving all the time. People are in each other's space.
My take is overall the offense gets more benefit of doubt to ensure clean shooting opportunities nowadays, and the offense took advantage of that bias. 10 years ago, getting clean shooting opportunities was harder and the offense had less incentive to sell it because the foul wouldn't come anyways.
How do you know when offense initiates?
If defender is standing still, that's a charge. Beyond that, both players are trying to get to a spot. If offense guy gets there first, defender is late - is that initiation?
I loved that nurk didn't force the 3. He got SO MANY kick outs where he could have taken the 3 - and this was the first game where I saw he forced himself to NOT do that. Was GREAT!
When nurk is in passing mode, it's really quite nice to see. And with beal, book and okogie all s tier cutters, there should be lots of opportunities for easy buckets.
When the trade happened I said homeless man's jokic, but now I'm starting to think poor man's jokic. He does not have the shooting efficiency at all (homeless man's level), but most of the rest of it is at poor man's level.

I think this is a 55 win team right now.
I think anything less than 50 is a disappointment given what they've shown so far. And if they're healthier than that baseline level, then pushing 60.
Only the nuggets bucks and Celtics can consistently beat this group even when hobbled. Lakers warriors and 6ers are challenges if 2/3 are out.

How many games out of 82 do the big 3 ALL play? Zero so far, none planned for at least the next week. Maybe we get to 30 if lucky?
