May I be the pundit of the thread and specify that Napoleon III was not emperor anymore in 1875 as he had lost the war against Prussia and was deposited when the Third Republic was declared in 1970?

The opera was nonetheless ordered by him and stands as the epitome of 19th century luxury building celebrating the wealth of the ruling class. Does it sound Marxist? Who knows?

Central Africa has good prospects: a young and energetic population, an increasingly educated population, economic growth. They look like North America at the beginning of the 20th Century. Some will win and some will lose but they have what it takes to take the lead

ADX Florence, thanks to an earlier post about TSA ruling back their mandate that people take off their shoes at airport security control. Now I have nightmares.

I feel you. Although some US neighborhoods seem to have closer businesses than yours. Also, my parents live in the countryside and absolutely need their car to buy anything. So there's that.

Nearest grocery store is 100m away. Nearest supermarket is 850m (just cheched). I walked to the supermarket moments ago, bought grocery and brought it back all in less than 1 hour. I wouldn't do it with 30 degrees in the middle of the day though. If there were no sidewalks and I had to make a 6km round trip to get groceries, I would invest in the cheapest electric bike possible.

I frequently turn off my phone. Sometimes I leave it at home when I go for a walk in the neighborhood.

Well dear friend, let's agree to disagree. I wish you a pleasant end of the day!

Yep, cancelled my subscription the day they announced the two-tier plans.

Most of the time, fellow Lemmies post videos via YouTube links. Each yime, I end up with a series of ads before being able to see the actual video. Is there a way to open these links directly in NewPipe?

After Musk's comments on Italy's interior politics and his recent appointment in Trump's administration, isn't it time for his fascist propaganda to be gone?

Playing the lotery is a good analogy to the Schroedinger cat experiment. That is, as long as you don't check the numbers

Not a fan of showbiz gossip but I hated having to hate Spacey for being a predator. I love his acting and I am happy I can go back to loving the actor
