VRChat is the worst example you could possibly provide for performance metrics in VR. Even people with PCs that cost $10,000 don't get 90fps in a busy room. The entire game is unoptimized user generated content...

You know how sometimes when you do a bunch of loads of laundry and forget to clean the lint trap you can just peel the lint out like it's a thick sticker?

You can do that same thing on a large air purifier. It's pretty gross because it's all hair and dust.

Winix makes some nice full room air purifiers.

I don't care what the particular number is, but it's a dart throwing game and you have to get all the numbers correct in one shot or start over

It's dystopian because they have a monopoly on pet care and prices are going through the roof. Private equity is basically taking advantage of pet owners because they know you will pay any price to save your animal.

Private equity owns 50% of vets and 75% of emergency clinics across America

graph showing cost of vets climbing much faster than inflation

If you can figure out how to get it all running, there used to be a lot of really good edu-tainment software in the 90s.

  • Zoombinis
  • The Incredible Machine
  • Etc

If you use private trackers, a VPN is irrelevant. All you need to do is fully encrypt your traffic in your torrent client so your ISP can't see what you're doing. It's been working just fine for me for 15 years, and I've never gotten a letter.

You don't need AI. There are computer algorithms to do it perfectly

I know this was already solved and I know this didn't entirely fit your description, but when I read dun... dun dun DUN, I couldn't help but think of master of puppets by Metallica https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=E0ozmU9cJDg

It fits the vocalized part you were talking about too except the sound is coming from a guitar

They need to put you in charge!

Why is it literally fucking impossible for news publications to make the distinction between Washington and Washington DC in the headline? This one is about Washington DC

Yes seriously. Pot calling the kettle black. I'm one of the people who got burned by DayZ standalone. Fucker lied to our faces and said we needed to buy early because the price was just going to go up as more content was added and it reached feature parity with the Arma mod within like a year

That baby is most certainly not fine! Clearly you have never played skee ball. It is not uncommon for the ball to come back down the ramp or for you to drop one on the floor

Now that we know the 'Duty To Warn' letter written by Stephen Spoonamore is misleading per Snopes as discussed here: https://lemmy.world/post/22317681, I figured it was worth mentioning there is another unrelated letter with a similar message that seems more credible. The letter is linked in the article, but here's a direct link for the curious: https://freespeechforpeople.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/letter-to-vp-harris-111324-1.pdf

A healthy human liver contains 575 international units (IU) of vitamin A per gram while a polar bear's liver contains between 24,000 and 35,000 IU per gram. Compare that to the tolerable upper level of vitamin A intake for a healthy adult human: 10,000. Signs of toxicity generally occur when approximately 25,000 to 33,000 IU are consumed.

Illness severity depended on how much liver the explorers consumed, but symptoms typically included drowsiness, sluggishness, irritability, severe headache, bone pain, blurred vision and vomiting. While milder cases merely involved flaking around the mouth, some accounts reported cases of full-body skin loss. Even the thick skin on the bottoms of a patient's feet could peel away, leaving the underlying flesh bloody and exposed. The worst cases ended in liver damage, hemorrhage, coma and death.
