The fact that you called her "Kathleen somebody" indicates that you are largely unaware of the situation they are referring to at Disney and its probably the reason you didn't get it.

In a way it sort of depends on the tone and intent. I don't think there's anything wrong with constructive criticism like pointing out that he doesn't have freckles. At the same time if you're tearing someone down for not knowing, you're kind of just being an ass

Yes, I'd say it was unavoidable if you've followed the Lucas films drama over the last several years

Think about all the things you need ignore in order for your point of view to be valid :

  • the fact that the creators have been lampooning woke/PC culture literally for seasons now with characters like PC Principal, Strong Woman and the PC Babies

  • the fact that there have been entire episodes in recent memory that the creators have been criticized for by the left such as "board girls" for promoting far-right idealogy

  • the fact that it's literally only individuals from the left that ever complain about elements of the show (there were literally people in this subreddit making posts about how they were done with this show because all they do now is spread "right wing garbage"

  • the fact that the creators have been cracking jokes about woke/lazy Disney productions for years now going right back to the member berries era

As far as the panderverse itself, you're missing so much nuance :

  • you're totally ignoring the fact that characters like Kathleen Kennedy and Bob Iger fully admit that all they do now is put out woke, pandering content

  • you're missing the point that cartman represents an extremely small portion of the population that as used as a shield by Disney against any and all valid criticism (they've already started doing in with Ms Marvel)

  • you're missing the point that characters like Kyle and Stan represent your everyday individual, (as they always have and are often stand ins for trey and Matt themselves), and also pointed out that woke, lazy diverse inserts are stupid

  • you're missing the nuanced joke that in the very white southpark universe everyone (except Stan and Kyle) didn't bat an eye at the fact that there was a black cartman.... Alternatively in the progressive and diverse, feminist universe, everyone had a problem with a white male being there

It seems more like you used to watch south park back in the day, heard about "the panderverse" through social media, checked it out and only saw what you wanted to see. Meanwhile you missed everything that's been going on in the south park universe for the last few years.

It's not even low key

The idea that going forward, Phoebe Waller Bridge would be taking the lead after the film has been hinted at and tossed around by quite a few people including Pheobe and Kathleen themselves.

Yes you are correct that they didn't literally call her indie but it is clear she is supposed to be the replacement and even officials working on the franchise have made this clear.

Officially speaking, the movie was made to give indiana Jones a fitting send off. To most observers it is clear that it was actually a setup for pheobe to step in to the role as the next Indiana jones

I don't even think it is truly about anything to do with right wing / left wing in the larger scheme of things. The bigger issue is and always had been that ANY complaint leveled against Disney for their poor performances lately had been labeled as extreme right bigoted hatred.

In other words what we're seeing is, even the general apathy portrayed by characters like Stan and Kyle (the common fan) being lumped in with the few extremists (cartman) in order to attempt to paint some type of picture of this massive gang coming after Disney unfairly.

When you read reviews by common movie goers, the negative reviews tend to mostly be about boring, badly written, redundant storytelling... And of course every so often you'll find some lunatic making off the wall comments. However, reading the media's response to these reviews, you'd get the impression that all of it is racist trolls. We've actually turned a corner recently where Disney has been doing so poorly that even the media isn't bothering to cover for them any longer.

The other side of the coin is that you'll get people on the most progressive side of the political spectrum that do nothing but boast the merits of Disney's diversity driven agenda all over social media. The mystery is why all this support isn't translating to success at the box office. The answer is either that all these people talk a big talk but don't actually support the product... Or their numbers are so few that they can't actually make a difference.

The people who you will see claiming this episode for their side are a drop in the bucket in the larger scale of things.

Ultimately the creators of Southpark have made their stance on what they think of Disney as a whole abudnatly clear regardless for years well before this episode even aired which some people seem to currently be totally oblivious to.
