Have most of you heard of Kathleen Kennedy before this episode? I had not and am now wondering if this was common knowledge or if this is just animated tv/entertainment issue that has caught Trey and Matt’s attention?

I assumed everyone would know who she and Kevin Feige are considering they made most of the biggest hits last decade but maybe not. Did everyone in the 90s know who Jerry Bruckheimer was?

If someone is just a producer and that’s the only credit I ever see for them, I’m not gonna know who they are. I don’t generally care about producers unless it’s someone that’s a famous writer/director/actor producing something. I don’t assume most people care about writers like I do either. Directors and Actors are the ones who get all the fame from the movies they make

So you don't pull up the studio org chart when a new movie or show comes out? Wow, that's risky.

[–] shestammie@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Yeah a handful of shit marvel movies ago, I went and watched some YouTube movie reviews and she’s a huge name in that pocket of the internet.

[–] Kalixburg@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

You learn her name really fast if you visit a sub where the sequel trilogy gets discussed a lot.

All my life! She was usually listed as a producer with Chris Columbus for Amblin. You know, Steven Spielberg movies.

[–] KAG25@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

duh, we all did when the new trilogy came out

[–] Zur__En__Arrh@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Somehow Palpatine returned

[–] ProfBrianOBlivion23@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

You can’t prove he was dead!! And it’s why Rey was able to become a Jedi in one years while it took Luke 10 years

[–] The_Barnstormer@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

With a million star destroyers that were easily dispatched by the mounted cavalry

That was the Give Me My Moneyback moment

Yes, I'd say it was unavoidable if you've followed the Lucas films drama over the last several years

[–] QuintDunaway@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Unless you are active in the Star Wars community you are probably lucky enough to avoid the… absolutely lovely discussions surrounding her. Just know Cartman’s characterization is not that far off to how some people can be when talking about her. Except Cartman’s a kid and I’m more willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on being more emotional, even if he is a little hell spawn.

[–] buzzed247@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

She was sold to Disney as part of the Star Wars package deal. That's the first I new of her. Then she started ruining the franchise.

[–] EdwinQFoolhardy@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I hate The Last Jedi a lot, so I was pretty familiar with her.

Oh yeah we have. Her name became notorious with the sequel trilogy...

[–] Turtle_Jerker@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (4 children)

I had no idea. I didn't really know pandering was that significant an issue. But I'm out of the loop with marvel stuff.

[–] moduspol@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Are you also out of the loop for Star Wars, Disney’s live-action remakes, and most modern TV shoes and movies?

Kathleen Kennedy’s not responsible for all of them, but the pandering isn’t limited to Disney.

[–] Turtle_Jerker@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Yeah, I'm definitely out of the loop on anything Star Wars or Disney. Not sure about other modern TV and movies.

I checked her IMDB page and I haven't seen anything she directed or produced since Signs. I know the old stuff like jurasic park and ET. Since, she's involved in projects that never appealed to me. But I'm old.

[–] ProfBrianOBlivion23@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Commercials, movies, tv shows, remakes, historical events… jobs, DEI in Government and the corporate world..

This use of force has been pretty hard to miss

[–] ProfBrianOBlivion23@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

You’re head must be so far up your ass or your under the age of 20 and you just don’t know any different (which is what they wanted)

This has been going on for the last 4 years at least.

I mean South Park even changed Token’s name to Tolkien… you didn’t notice any of this?

[–] dogburglar42@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

What do you mean they changed his name? Do you really think a little black boy would be named "Token Black"?

You disgust me, you racist

Honestly, it's really not that big of an issue. There are like a small handful of instances in pop culture where it was literally "put a chick in it and make her gay" type of diversity implementations. But like the vast majority of it has been the ideal Stan/Kyle perspective of giving them a cool background and making it their own character.

I knew she was given the reigns at Lucas films but didn't start paying attention till "The Last Jedi" shit all over the Star Wars IP. It wasn't even about pandering. More just horrible writing and killing Snoke off for no reason and after giving him zero backstory.

If you love Star Wars you’ve heard of that bitch

[–] ArieHimself@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Yes, theres a number of people on YouTube who comment on all the changes that have been happening. Nerdrotic and Itsagundam are my favs.

[–] WhereIsTheMilkMan@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I had yes. If you ever read entertainment or film news, her name will come up. I don’t even religiously follow that kind of stuff, I just occasionally read articles here and there, and I’ve come across her name several times.

[–] Surgeboy99@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Um yeah shes like one of thr worlds biggest producers

[–] Litsazor@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Thanks to Matt and Trey whenever i read about Disney, all i see was human sized Mickey bossing around, not actual people.

[–] decoran_@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Never heard of her before the episode

[–] Honest-Implement3809@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Never heard of her

[–] Mrs_Mcl@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

No and they made her look way younger than she actually is

[–] voodoosanteria@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

If you’re a Star Wars fan, yes you very much know who Kathleen Kennedy is

[–] CarefulPomegranate41@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Yes, I've known of her for years.

[–] Nicky42@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Yeah because she ruined star wars

[–] Gbro08@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

No I don't watch that many movies

[–] ProfBrianOBlivion23@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Yes, she’s a super famous movie producer who rode Spielberg and Lucas’ coattails in the 80’s and 90’s until those guys got old and handed her the keys.

[–] angeleaniebeanie@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I’ve known since the 90s

[–] trishpike@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Yes it’s common knowledge to Star Wars fans

[–] vagrantprodigy07@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Sadly yes. I'm not a fan at all of the direction Disney went in with the new Star Wars material.

[–] manbeardawg@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Yes, but I also had her confused for Kathryn Bigelow, who directed The Hurt Locker. They should give her control of Disney instead.

[–] ShiftlessRonin@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Yeah, she's got eight Oscars. She didn't ruin SW, Lucas did that himself in the 2000s.

[–] Windows_66@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

She's the antichrist of incel grifters on the internet right after Brie Larson.

[–] Objective_Celery_509@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago
[–] punishedbiscuits@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

not knowing of kathleen kennedy but of modern disney is like knowing the third reich but not of Adolf Hitler

[–] theweedfairy420qt@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

yes cuz i was wondering who made that god awful worst movie ever last movie in starwars

[–] Jefcat@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I’ve known her name for years. She helped co-found Amblin Entertainment with Spielberg and she has been part of numerous film projects, mostly as a producer, for forty years. She produced E.T., Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, the Sixth Sense, Schindler’s List, and dozens of other films. She and her husband Frank Marshall have been a significant force in Hollywood for a LONG time.

They made her a playable character in one of the Lego Star Wars games for some retarded reason.
