Yeah, doesn't look like it affects GrapheneOS. More validation of my choice to run Graphene I guess.

Yeah, I've got to imagine as you cram more ads into a platform the effectiveness of the ads drops dramatically. Especially once users start leaving from being overwhelmed by ads.

A "planet" traveling at the speed of light would need to be composed entirely of photons, and (assuming an Earth-sized relativistic mass) would have 5.37x10^41 J of energy. That's around 2.3x the gravitational binding energy of the Sun, so I assume it would be obliterated, along with all of its planets.

Great, now they're going to start giving us exams before we're allowed to watch a video.

Fun fact, the kinetic energy a comet would gain from falling into the Earth's gravity well is around 60MJ/kg, more than two orders of magnitude greater than the energy which would be absorbed by it melting (0.33MJ/kg).

Almost as if a browser company that's not also an advertising company has no reason to fight ad blockers.

My $50 mouse has switches rated for 20 million clicks. Had it for 5 years and it still works flawlessly, but if they do ever wear out I can replace them.

Didn't realize Edge actually had a file named setup.exe used for uninstalling. Though it's quite suspicious they'd include their own file instead of using the one already included with Edge.

That Python script is basically just running setup.exe (which has no apparent source code). Definitely doesn't look genuine in the slightest.

Yes, definitely. I think they're usually pretty good about removing malicious repos.

[–] LostXOR@fedia.io 4 points 3 months ago

That's so much worse lmao. I assume that's the main payload, and setup.exe only downloads it or something.

From a quick glance, there's a "setup.exe" file in the source directory, which seems very sketchy. Sources should generally contain source code, not precompiled executables. I certainly wouldn't chance it.

Edit: According to VirusTotal, it attempts to connect to sb.scorecardresearch.com, a tracking service. It also apparently creates a scheduled task. Definitely do not use this software.
