Process the film as is and get the usable prints. Don’t bother trying to salvage the unexposed area, you don’t apparently have the equipment or know-how to do so.

At some point I would take at least one of them through the entire process. Show, don’t tell, what it takes to do a a shoot. Perhaps a more subtle way to show the time and effort involved.
The pink dots are probably from improper washing from the photo developer. It takes a while for the results to show up. If it was from exposure to sunlight, the color fade would be more consistent across the whole print.
