His greatness will not be denied

Ah yep. I smartly found it. Shitty title by the person who posted it.

I’m a LeBron fan so no one get mad at this. Just want to see the play from a better angle. I saw a video of the play from the normal broadcast view, but that doesn’t give much detail.

I mean, yeah. Just not how you’re thinking it. A player will get called for a violation and then if everyone on the team reacts a certain way, refs may consult with the other refs and they change the call. Seen it many times. Usually for like out of bounds it seems. Sometimes refs just have to make a call, even if they didn’t have a perfect view of what happened. This is reality. If the players react genuinely upset or confused, refs have and will change calls ( after consulting other refs). Most of the time, though, the players react all crazy and then the replay shows them clearly fouling someone. Players are allowed to be wrong and refs are allowed to get fed up and T them up. I hate how ever T is called soft. Players literally complain after every call — how can you not escalate things to get them to stop?

Remember when the nba was gonna go back to allowing HS players and there was gonna be the “double draft”? What happened? It was being hyped beyond just speculation. Even Zach Lowe was talking like it was a sure thing.

Speaking of, does anyone play the NYT connections game? It’s better than wordle

Anyway, what’s the most interesting storyline that you sent to pay attention to before the start of 2024? Kinda crazy that we’re already at 2024. We’re far away from Allen Iverson winning MVP in 2001!

1990 Cavs lead the league with 10.3 attempts per game

2003 Cavs were second to last with 9.6 attempts per game

To make a similar comparison, the 2010 league leader was the Orlando Magic at 27.3 attempts per game. The 2023 Bulls are last in the league to this point but are shooting 28.9 attempts per game.

I was in a discussion with someone in another thread who said that the Spurs don’t have good spacing this year so it kinda makes up for the differences in era between Wemby’s rookie season and LeBron’s rookie season.

Obviously the comparison requires a lot of context and spacing is way different flay compared to back then. I decided to look up the stats and fully thought it was a mistake on basketball reference when it said they attempted 9.6 threes per game. I checked ESPN and NBAstats and they both confirm that the professional Cavs basketball team only took 9 threes per game for an entire year. And they weren’t even last in the league! They were second to last.

For reference, the Spurs shoot 35 threes per game and are ranked 14th.

Spurs shot 35% and the Cavs shot 31%.

sourxe

2 years ago when they forced him to be an All Star, they were spamming the shit out of the “2-way Wigs” nickname. It was the first words out of every player and coach’s mouth.

Why don’t they just scream this propaganda again and make him good?

I haven’t counted exactly, but he has at least 5-6 with most of the 2nd half still to do. Insane performance by Giannis against an iffy Packers defense

With 9 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, he has 35 points on 12/15 shooting and 11-12 from the free throw line. He’s scoring on every defender who tries him and has completed like 5 and-1s.

Turn the game on!

Adjust KG’s minutes to today’s levels tho.

Adjust KG playing in the ISO heavy era to today’s more team oriented era.

People simplify it too much. Guys back then played huge minutes and got to ISO like crazy. Nowadays you see MVPs like Giannis play 30 minutes a game. Some dudes (Luka, Trae, etc) control the offense at insane levels, but the average star is part of a very team oriented offense.

The absolute magic behind it… the control Luka demanded over the game. He passed away the ball twice and got it right back and forced up a frankly awful shot… but the magic saved it.

Maybe watching Luka will make me appreciate Kobe more.

Luka is going to end up with an insane clutch highlight reel, just like Kobe. And it will be derived in the same way — not by being ultra efficient in the clutch and making every shot, but by simply taking every shot his team has in the clutch for the next decade.

Yeah seriously. Tucker isn’t playing the ball, he’s playing to get fouled.

I mean, wow. Good for him. Nice looking hair too. Smooth and flowy. Not that Andre Drummond’s curly shoulder hair is bad, but just nice to see multiple iterations.

Giannis never wants the smoke

The craziest thing was how the grizzlies just took it. Didn’t show much fight, didn’t go down swinging. Just got punked and shut up.

Good riddance. Dude is 5% more sane than Kyrie.
