the league seriously needs to do something about Giannis bulldozing every single player and actually getting FTs out of it.

I do feel for PJ, didn't exactly look a comfortable experience, but he definitely is taking another step, it's a natural motion going into a shot, and it caught him in the head because he's guarding someone taller than him.

[–] JG951519@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Yeah the title is definitely misleading lol

Looks like he was going for the charge and he’s definitely taking another step. Pj has been pissed off while playing the bucks ever since we let him go.

But if there’s one thing I learned from having him on the bucks is he argues every single call and acts like he never fouls in his life.

[–] SonicdaSloth@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Everyone was arguing every call last night. It was annoying as shit. Of course the refs did miss a ton

[–] TheHuntingParadise@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Frustrating to watch. I think both fans had calls they weren’t happy with and lots of just inconsistent whistles.

One play Giannis barreled into Embiid and then Embiid pulled him down and they almost didn’t call a foul. It was easily either an offensive foul or defensive but they hesitated so long on it.

Lmao bucks flair

[–] Thehelloman0@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (15 children)

It's honestly crazy how ridiculously in favor of the offense the refs call the NBA. That should've been a no call or offensive foul. In no way did Tucker foul Giannis there

[–] snoogans8056@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

The problem is that the defense is also foul baiting. Makes it almost impossible for the refs have it be a no call. Everyone wants a call.

[–] llamadrama420@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Yeah the way I kinda see it is it’s really unfair to complain about bad refereeing when most if not all players are actively trying to fool refs into making bad calls.

[–] ShowerMartini@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Yeah seriously. Tucker isn’t playing the ball, he’s playing to get fouled.

[–] ifollowphillysports@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

He’s playing to be in position to not give up an open layup. Giannis blindly spins right into Tucker’s space, fouling Tucker.

Tucker isn’t playing to foul, Giannis is just playing like a bull in a China shop, which the refs allow and encourage because they make dumb calls like this.

[–] Roythaboy@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Downvotes be damned, pj was sliding right into that elbow. Feet not even close to set. Definitely not a charge like he wanted. I’d love a no call here.

[–] RTLT512@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Lol what? He beat Giannis to the spot and Giannis just tried to go through him. That’s PJ playing good defense with Giannis playing out of control and luckily getting bailed out.

[–] hostileclowns@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Giannis and Embiid are the kings of throwing their elbows in to dudes for fouls.

[–] InvestmentGrift@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

imo the league singled them out & said "we're gonna bring the big man back"

How is this foul baiting lol. Giannis just ran his ass over which should've been an offensive foul but it wasn't a foul bait.

[–] JG951519@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Pj went for a charge and was clearly still moving his feet lol that’s the definition of a blocking foul.

[–] devomke@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Dude lol no

[–] Ok-League9682@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

How do people still think feet moving = automatic block in the NBA? I genuinely cannot understand how someone could watch more than two games a year and arrive at this conclusion.

[–] amr1115@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

he wasn’t going for a charge lmao he was playing defense. giannis isn’t automatically entitled to tuckers space and for almost any other player that’s a clear charge but giannis has a different set of rules the league gives him

[–] drutastic57@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I didn’t realize you can scream while players take fts. Seems like the a middle school strategy

[–] SquimJim@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

This isn't foul baiting, but it's closer to an offensive foul than a defensive one.

Tucker does take a step, but Giannis is also the one creating all the contact. Giannis is intentionally barreling into Tucker, as he does on a lot of drives.

It should be a no-call. Another call liked this happened this game, but it got overturned after a review. The other one should have probably been an offensive foul.

[–] JG951519@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

When it comes to Giannis people just want to boil it down to “he’s trucking him” which is sometimes true.

He was spinning, if Pj hadn’t taken another step and fell it likely would’ve been an offensive foul as that’s what a lot of people do when he drives, but he does take a step to try and get a charge and is still moving his feet. That’s the definition of a defensive foul.

Of course a Celtics fan is saying it’s offensive you guys have been complaining about as bad as sixers fans since last night.

[–] Comeonsonny@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (4 children)

Can you explain your reasoning? You said Giannis intentionally barreled into Tucker. Then you said it should be a no call. If he intentionally barrels into the defender, it should be an offensive foul, no?

[–] Betaateb@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It is the step forward that Tucker takes that makes it a no-call. Giannis initiates the contact, but Tucker also moved into his space. It is more of an off-setting penalties thing.

But Giannis is a super star and Tucker is Tucker so it is almost always going to get called like this. If it was Embiid it might have been a no-call.

I don't think Giannis fouled in this case, but if his fouls were called correctly he'd be out the game before the half lol

[–] RekLeagueMvp@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I think this is a no call but I’ll never understand how being shoulder in the chest is a defensive foul

[–] esteban-was-eaten@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Shouldn't have been standing there

[–] DJ_B0B@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Get that baby out of there and you won't get hit in the face. Sick of all these tiny dudes complaining when their whole strat is to be too small and flop.

[–] gigglios@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Buddy you were sucking pj off when he played for the bucks and did the same thing. Giannis is reckless and commits 15 fouls a game anyways lol

[–] bobbdac7894@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I don’t even consider Giannis a basketball player. Bulldozing and charging into people isn’t basketball. Great athlete. Not a basketball player.

[–] donivantrip@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

ball don’t lie and never has

[–] rawonionbreath@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I will always remember a quote from Brett Favre when he was bantering with opposing defensive linemen while he was miked up during a game. “It’s not holding if they’re not calling it.” Basically, the response to this accusation could be “so what.”

[–] Littlejaguar@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Not foul baiting he didn’t flop. The ref just made a terrible call.

I mean move your face little boy. That’s a big boy you are going up into

[–] SuckaFreeRIP@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Giannis gets away with murder out there 100%. It’s embarrassing for the league. It’s really the only reason they won that game 🤮

[–] BarKochbasRevenge@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (3 children)

I'm enjoying how obvious this hose-job was to anybody but Bucks fans.

[–] CreamCityFr34k@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I'm just enjoying how salty everyone is over the first game of the season lol

He ain’t wrong.

[–] Captain_America_93@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

That’s rich coming from someone who plays with Harden and Embiid

[–] roflmeh@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Can we get more of the raw audio on the court? This is great.

[–] Lawlington@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

He’s not wrong about anything

[–] BlueberryUnused@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

lmao we need more of this

[–] begley420@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Blocking foul.

[–] IT_JUST_MEANS_JORT@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

The answer is to stop making so many calls. Let em play.

[–] DrJayDubs@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I agree with PJ Tucker here

[–] vandiger@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Fucking funny more of this man.

[–] kushjrdid911@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

The NBA is real tough to watch sometimes because of the superstar calls that we deal with. I love and respect MJ and it is not like he made the NBA do this but he was the start of the superstar calls era. Did the dude even get a technical foul for crying to claw Reggie Millers eyeballs out of his head at half court? lol they threw Reggie out that game

[–] the-Aleexous@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

The NBA basically doesn’t respect good on-ball defense. If the defender is moving at all, feet not planted, they will usually call a block, even if the offensive player initiates contact with defenders body, unless an arm is extended. It used to be fair if the defender got to the position first, moving or not. You just had to be in the spot the offensive player was headed to; that’s the entire point of cutting someone off.
