My homelab has become a whole lot less fun with current memory and storage prices.

Minecraft uses a ton of that. Not a bad analogy i suppose.

Netflix has been listing piracy as their biggest competition for a couple of years now.

It is the threat to corpos we think it is. They are using and bending the legal system rather than treating it as actual competition. Which is a direct threat to our freedom.

After setting up my own Jellyfin, i just cant stand paid streaming. It is like going back a decade experience wise with a 90s experience in quality.

Who knew VHS water and night artifacts would still be common in 2026.

They've attempted to kill off java several times. It's been second graded for years now in development. Geyser became a chore, using bedrock for java isnt fun anymore(it ran so much smoother, i kinda miss it). The list of bedrock exclusive features keeps growing each patch.

Not just the streamers, Java's community is massive thanks to Bukkit, Spigot, Paper and the like. They know that dropping java would just result in a fork to a clone. As the majority of the Minecraft community infrastructure is not dependent on Mojang and Microsoft.

I am pretty certain that Steam killswitch is used by crackers. As the cracked dll works for multiple games(or all? I hardly pirate games) and it seems to've been the same crack that patches out steam drm for 2 decades now.

Valve's refusal to fix it, earned them some kudos. Giving trust that my steam games continue working even if steam is gone.

I bought Devil May Cry, constantly wondered why i was getting so much frame drops and little freezes.

Eventually pirated DmC for a proper experience until they removed denuvo.

Last time i bought a game containing denuvo and the last devil may cry i bought, the series is dead to me now. What idiots keep thinking up these anti-piracy methods that bother their own customers and actively promotes piracy by offering a better quality service.

It was paid first in the netherlands.

It wasnt free for me until I got my Lumia. Paying eventually became optional a few years before the takeover.

In certain areas of Germany this map can be useful as a reminder.

The whole internet is slowly getting ruined by AI optimization.

It's all indexed in the LLM's now, don't need Reddit anymore for Reddit answers.

People are severely overestimating the importance of AI. It's more FOMO than anything else.

Wait until you have to pay non-subsidized prices for the use of LLM's, how productive are they in reality when the real costs come in to play? You could just train and hire actual people to do the job far more accurately with some quality control?

Not denying there's some fields with great benefits from LLM's, but writing emails, answering phonecalls aren't it. LLM's cant even transcribe conversations with any proper accuracy and as a society we now trust them to make decisions.

It boggles the mind, really.
