It's made out of copper, just wait for a bit and it'll oxidize.
This map should include the Turkish diaspora. Would be helpful for finding the nearest kebab shop
That would be the part in red.
Why don't they include the Northern Cyprus occupied territories? Are they stuck in the 1973??
Greece will be pleased with ~~Cypress~~ Cyprus
The Republic of Cyprus has been independent from Greece for some time now.
TY for gracefully avoiding my egregious mistake.
goes and reads Wikipedia
Oh, since 1960. In that case I'll re phrase it:
The Republic of Cyprus will be pleased.
What's fucked up is I knew it was independent but I didn't realize it was never Greek. They got independence from Britain, like... what???
... When did you get frozen?
Technically they should have that on their Ministry of Here Affairs website

How am I meant to know which colour means Türkiye and which means not Türkiye
Türkiye's flag is red and white so I'm pretty sure it's either the red or the white
I think the blue part must be the ocean, since water is blue. Perhaps the white is Türkiye!

If they never changed the name from Turkey we wouldn’t have this conundrum
In Türkiye, Turkey was always called Türkiye. They just asked the rest of the world to use the Turkish word.
Sure but I still don't get why they did that. Germans aren't going around insisting that their country be called Deutchland in english as well. Or Spain => España. Or Sweden => Sverige. Or Finland => Suomi. There's so many examples I could plug here. Languages have different names for countries, no need to throw a fit about it.
I mean, they just asked the UN to use that name. No one is required to use it, and I don't recall it really being a fit
Names evolve over time for a variety of reasons. The examples you provide aren’t also used as an insult the way turkey (the bird) is.
Recently there’s also Czechia, Eswantini, North Macedonia.
A fair few doesn't have a good pronunciation in other languages that those native speakers can reliably understand. That's why we have localizations in the first place. Here in Sweden, Turkey (Turkiet) doesn't sound like the bird (kalkon). It makes more sense to show the localized name and their internal name next to each other, and this is already common in many maps.
Woosh
here you go 🗝️
i regularly forget that france is not turkiye so having this map really clears things up for me
In certain areas of Germany this map can be useful as a reminder.
That's not so hard to remember! In France, turkey is called "dinde," derived from "d'Inde" ("of India"), which is much farther east than Türkiye. So just remember that in France, Türkiye = India.
It'll definitely come in handy for driving. Every time I try to drive to Turkey I end up in Bratislava
Oh shit, it's straight up on the front page for the MFA.
of course its on the front page, its a really useful map! !
But it still doesn't tell us if Northern Cyprus is part of Turkey or not
You mean the occupied part of Cyprus

it’s clearly marked as not türkiye
Woah, I'm impressed
This can't be real. We're in a simulation
checking map
"Huh. So Japan ISN'T Turkiye? TIL, I guess."
If someone hacks them, they need to replace that image with a picture of a turkey
Can confirm, am not in Turkey.
Are all those green lines also Turkiye?
Not many people know that, but Türkiye controls all borders across the world.
To be fair, wikipedia does this too and I find it helpful. The problem is the color scheme
What country is the big white bit?
Also Turkey, but less flavourful.
It's both Turkey, while also not Turkey.
