My 90 year old grandmother refuses to go to a nursing home (and honestly I can’t blame her) and actually just blew a ton of money getting her home remodeled. She has no plans to leave until she passes away, at which point the house will go to my father who has plans to sell it.
Meanwhile, my wife and I barely make the median income amount and, at 36, we’re never going to be able to afford a home.

I’d argue that they aren’t specifically trying to make the planet uninhabitable for life as we know it, they’re just trying to make a boatload of money selling a product whose side effect is that the more of it that’s used, the faster the planet becomes Mercury 2.
Probably because they were all cheap crap and not made up to the standards of the device they connected to.
It’ll mean folks working or living at a lot of places won’t have a place to park, and without further investment into rail, bus, and bike infrastructure it means that a lot of folks simply won’t be able to work or live where they need to.
On paper, this means denser development all around. But living in most of these places requires owning a vehicle. That means you gotta have somewhere to put it. Otherwise, you’ve gotta provide alternate means for folks to get to where they need to go. Expanded bus service, more light rail, and better and more bike trails are essential.
Replace 'The Economy' with 'Rich People's Yacht Money' and everything starts to make more sense.
Nothing quite like paying an annual fee to ensure that stuff you can’t be bothered to go to the store for are handled by a multitude of people who are systematically abused by their employer.
Right, we just wait until they invite a civil war, lose, and kill themselves when they realize they can’t win, meanwhile countless others suffer during the whole thing. Sounds great.
