I usually put mine in my checked bag, but have traveled with one attached to my camera bag, no problem. We’re talking full size heavy tripod with gear head.

I love a food good wide angle lens. I’ve mostly been shooting with my 50mm 4.5 Mamiya Sekor-C for over 10 years, I see no reason to stop now, I could lock in with that one for the rest of time.
