Ya, came here to say that if you’re down on Wemby you just don’t know hoops, simple as that

Idk if he’s been the best player for the wolves. Ant still runs the offense and does a majority of the difficult “bend the defense” play making. KAT has so much space to be effective because of all that Ant does.

KAT has been an amazing second option though. I really think less is more for KAT, and when he tries to do too much, that’s when things get bad.

I thought the wolves could be good, but I didn’t expect KAT to be a real defensive contributor

that's the thing that would drive me crazy watching KAT basically any other season. like, he's 7'0" tall, huge wingspan, maybe a little slow getting into place but he'd just swipe at everything. just go up tall Karl. thankfully it seems to have clicked this season and it's been awesome to watch

I didn't think we'd ever see it. maybe Ant taking over as the clear #1 on offense has given KAT more space to focus on other things. or maybe it just took time to mesh w/ Gobert. either way it's surprising but amazing and so fun to watch

He’s a bench scorer. The warriors role for him was actually solid but he just sucked last season. Doesn’t seem to be serious enough to constantly play at the level he should be capable of.

Won too much, while thinking he’s a big factor in winning, but not really being that big of a factor in winning.

Please remove Naz Reid from your comparison. Naz is a baller who cares and plays hard. Poole is a jokester

tldr;

I made a way to visually explore basketball history using a large graph. Now updated with 2023-24 rosters and photos (that's right, Dame is on the Bucks and Jimmy has an emo haircut).

Check it out here: https://nbagraph.com

Note: while this works completely fine on mobile, it's certainly a more immersive experience on desktop : )

For more details check out my original post from this offseason, or peep the code on github.

What's next?

I'll try to update the rosters at least once a month during the season (eg. once LaVine gets traded it may take a few days until it's updated on the graph).

Other than that, I have a few ideas for other cool visualizations using this graph data. I'll share more when those are done!

ya, he just gets dinged up a lot

but the last 3 seasons especially he's been amazingly consistent when he's out there. he just... kinda only plays 40 to 60% of the possible games now post-achilles injury

Both guys are killing the warriors right now. Klay especially since he’s a complete ball stopper and still takes his hero shots.

Idk, if you’re the warriors you can’t panic yet and have to see if he can get his legs back, but it’s looking really bad for Klay.

Nah that other comment is what I saw too. Could fill up points on a stats sheet but never made winning plays and zero effort doing anything else. He had people fooled for a while (including you still, I guess)

I ate crow when he was such a valuable piece of that title team. After watching him in minny for years I just didn’t think he could be a valuable contributor to any serious team. He just didn’t do enough things during a game.

So ya, totally agree this is the Wiggins we saw. Floats around, very few effort plays, still a few highlights from his athleticism but ultimately just doesn’t really seem to care enough to really impact winning.
