That’s a foul on Kat? Unless the offensive player caused him to lower his left arm

[–] Raging-Timberwolf@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He never touched him with that arm tho. That’d be a crazy soft foul

[–] LeBremsstrahlung@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Even if they aren’t laterally quick the sheer length of both of them still makes things difficult if they’re active and extending their arms.

[–] waynequit@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

rudy has always been quicker on the perimeter than people realize. How many 7 footers can move like he can?

[–] Slim-Ticket@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Earlier this season, the shotclock was at .7 seconds and Rudy sprinted from the left side of the point all the way to the right corner and blocked a 3 pointer. In 0.7 seconds...I was like wtf he can move that fast??

[–] TdotGdot@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

that's the thing that would drive me crazy watching KAT basically any other season. like, he's 7'0" tall, huge wingspan, maybe a little slow getting into place but he'd just swipe at everything. just go up tall Karl. thankfully it seems to have clicked this season and it's been awesome to watch

[–] saw-it@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yea but the 2029 first round pick can be anything

[–] HuruHara@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Even another DPoY. We just never know.

[–] 0percentwinrate@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Milton was driving into the paint that are guarded not only by KAT and Rudy but other two defenders as well.

He damn sure knew he's going to get demolished lol

Foul drawing

[–] HuruHara@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Both Rudy and KAT have length and girth powering their D. Only top ballers would be able to overcome that.

[–] manu_facere@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm sorry but i can't wait for the playoff time to come. I'm sure they won't be able to handle Denvers ball movement.

Jokic will make the Wolves D collapse on him and he'll start dishing out dimes. And if Minessota D ignores him he'll punish you with his soft touch around the rim

[–] Basic_Commercial_806@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Wolves are the only team in the west that can live with Jokic scoring, but take away those dump offs to Gordon. They even have great wing defense to make things harder for Murray

[–] manu_facere@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I guess my dirty double entendres weren't obvious enough for people to see that i'm joking

KAT playing defense like this is a game changer. Straight-up, strong defense in the paint, shuffling his feet and keeping his hands active on the perimeter. Over the last few seasons, he’d improved from a bad defender to a mediocre defender, and this year he’s just actively a good defender.

[–] BowserBuddy123@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I would never have thought it.

[–] Raging-Timberwolf@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

That’s what happens when you get to train and practice with one of the best defenders in NBA history

[–] DayMan-Ahah-ah@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (5 children)

crazy how much shit rudy got for so long lol

[–] s86ahmed1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wolves are finally "spooky"

As a Jazz fan and habitual Rudy defender I’m so glad he is STILL the man.

[–] Toja1927@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I’m so happy Wolves fans also get Rudy now. Jazz fans defended that man for years alone.

It's such a massive difference when an offense guy buys into defense, because it keeps him engaged even when shots aren't falling.

Cold-shooting KAT used to be a huge liability, and reversing that is just as big a reason for their record as Ant's leap.

[–] SteamyRay_Vaughn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

His timing on the jump has been really incredible, timing it perfectly. This clip is the best defense I’ve ever seen KAT play

He's definitely been good this year, but I find it pretty funny that there's been multiple situations where he's made a bad read/off ball rotation and Gobert's had to shove him into where he's meant to be haha. Noticed it once or twice for Ant too.

Think it's so good for KAT and Ant to have smart vets like Gobert and Conley around to learn off

[–] Slim-Ticket@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

There was a play in the Warriors game when KAT was backing up and Gobert pushed him back to the perimeter bc Gobert knew Saric would get a 3. He was right, Saric immediately got the ball in that exact spot and shot a 3.

It's a blessing having a guy as high IQ as Rudy on defense. Gobert said last year that he thought KAT is a great defender but just isn't in the right places sometimes. I see Gobert talking to KAT on the sidelines point out spots on the floor often this season. That guidance is invaluable

Yeah, he’s been going hard. It struck me the other day. I’m not used to seeing him sprinting on D. Dudes all over the court now days though.

[–] darti_me@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

An actual instance where playing harder and wanting it more was actually the key. With the change in his environment and personal growth, KAT is finally beaming into his full potential.

I didn't think we'd ever see it. maybe Ant taking over as the clear #1 on offense has given KAT more space to focus on other things. or maybe it just took time to mesh w/ Gobert. either way it's surprising but amazing and so fun to watch

[–] AdEquivalent4786@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The Maginot Line

[–] JohnnyWarlord@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Our defense is really good, especially if the wings and guards arent happy shooting middys

[–] rikooo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

That was a foul. The contact came soon after the jump but you can see KAT’s momentum was very clearly moving forward, not straight up, and his arms were not straight up either.

Refs are sadly extremely susceptible to making calls based on reputation instead of what they actually see. Wolves got a LOT of leeway because of it last night.

[–] DonnieCullman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You’re getting downvoted but that’s a play that if they called a foul, KAT would have no argument. When he met the defender at the spot, arms we’re out at 45 degrees and not straight up.

[–] Roy-Hibbert55@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Kat has one of the worst reputation with refs that I’ve ever seen so that doesn’t make much sense. But I do agree it was a foul.

[–] brucewayne1935@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Patrick Beverly died for this

[–] ChrRome@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Those are basketball terms, yes.

[–] jmanci23@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

“Swallowed up by Towns”… sounds about right 🤣

[–] BackendSpecialist@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Is 40 on PHI Batum?

That was absolutely a terrible defensive attempt 😂

[–] OneWildAndCrazyGuy17@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Also helps when you get away a foul (kat)

[–] A_Line_A_Day@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Right? Looked pretty obvious to me. I guess the NBA loves Ant and wants the Wolves to win

[–] Midwest_Hardo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

We’ve officially entered the “The League is Biased Towards the Timberwolves” era. Wild times

[–] makimasimp69@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Kat was getting terrible calls during that game too

[–] GargoyleBlue@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes, the darling legacy franchise Minnesota Timberwolves strike again

Fouls him on the arm and was jumping towards the shooter… seems like he got him twice.

I can't see/hear "verticality" and not think of Roy Hibbert in Game of Zones.

[–] Slim-Ticket@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Is this the "Lebron's Feast in the East" episode haha

[–] LyonsKing12@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

"This again"?

[–] juzzbert@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Imagine in the future nba, every player on the team is this size, can handle the ball, and shoot the three.
