Last year's Lions were losing a lot of close games early in the season, so a late-season run wasn't out of the question. They nearly beat the Eagles in week 1, only losing by 3 points.

I'm assuming Daniel Jones was 90 yards up in the air, the football was made of a lead/concrete blend, and it just slipped out of his hand.
The Steelers have been like that for a while. In 2020, they started the season 11-0, and everyone said, there's no way this team is really that good. They cruised into the playoffs and got bounced in the wildcard round.
Mac Jones always buys the extended warranty.
