Yeah, we know Bill Parcells said "You are what your record says you are."

But which to teams do you feel are not what their record says they are?

Better than record: Cardinals only because Kyler Murray is back

Worse than record: Steelers whose luck will run out any week now. Right guys? Any week now.

Follow-up question: which team still has its own verb?

[–] alienbringer@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Eagles are 5-1 in one score games. They arnt as bad as Vikings of 2022, it imo they are trending that direction.

Hmm I mean those 2 early season games and we’d be 6-3 right now after just beating KC and the Bills. Idk what to think.

[–] EncantoSteelers1933@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

God the Steelers are so lucky.

[–] Estragon_Rosencrantz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If you asked this question every week this season my answer would’ve changed a few times.

[–] TheDirtyBurger522@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (8 children)

I think the Vikings are much better than their record suggests and still can win the NFCN

Browns are much much worse than 6-3

49ers are better than 6-3

[–] Playful-Storage835@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Worse Record The Seahawks can beat bad teams, but they get blown out against good teams.

Better Record Bengals are still an AFC threat despite their record.

We are somehow worse than 1-8 implies.

Atleast you have the #1 pick to look forward too 🎉

If the Raiders had been playing like they are now they could be a 7-8 win team but it’s also a miracle that they won 3 games under McDaniels

I think the Packers are actually SLIGHTLY, EVER SO SLIGHTLY, better than our record implies. Most of our games, even the disappointing loss to Detroit where they embarrassed us, is a Romeo Doubs not abandoning his route and Quay Walker jump away from being a 27-30 game instead of 20-34. Theyve also battled back in every game to be in scoring position at the end of the game. They just don’t have the experience and cohesion on offense to actually win those games and Joe Barry is the Defensive Coordinator.

I actually think we're a slightly better team than our record shows. Should be in the 4-5 win range rather than 3. Below highlights that point a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if we won 3 of our next 7 (or 0 of our next 7 given how inconsistent we can be).

Here are some other teams with 3 wins or less last year after week 10 and where they ended up.

  • Bears (#1 pick)
  • Lions (almost made playoffs)
  • Texans (#2 pick)
  • Jaguars (won a playoff game)
  • Steelers (almost made playoffs)

Texans are absolutely better than their record.

[–] CIueIess_Squirrel@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Steelers and Browns do not have records that are representative of what they are.

Steelers are just not good, and whatever black magic Tomlin is peforming to let the Steeler win despite all odds will eventually run out.

Browns are average, but are due for regression. They're last year's Vikings. Winning all their one score games. That won't continue happening, and if it does they'll get nuked in the playoffs by actual teams anyway. Like the Vikings last year

Bucs are better than their record. Mayfield and Co just can't get over the hill sometimes. But Mayfield can play.

[–] gpcampbell92@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (7 children)

I do not think we are good enough for it, but we are like a few of plays away from being anywhere from 5-4 to 7-2. The missed PI call on the two point conversion against the commanders. Missed FG against the raiders. The fumble TD against the Jets that sealed the game(futhest fetched one cause we'd still have to move 30 yards down the field to be in FG range just to tie it with like 40 seconds left.)

Oh and who could forget the missed legendary 51-point play against the Dolphins.

Fun fact: or not so fun fact: you decide:

Since the beginning of 2014 season, the Steelers have played the second most one-score games through week 10 of this (95) in the AFC (I’m too lazy to compile the stats for the NFC) only to the chargers (98).

They have the best win percentage, in the AFC, in one-score games at .674. The dolphins are second at .625. The chargers are 12th at .429 over that time span.

Chiefs. Should be 9-0. Our only 2 losses came when Kelce/Jones sat out week 1 and when Mahomes had diarrhea in between snaps vs denver

The giants are way better than their record. I encourage them to maintain their current coaching staff and GM, give their strength and conditioning coaches a raise, and ensure Daniel Jones is signed to an even longer extension. You got this guys.

My biased opinion is the Ravens are better than their record suggests. But we just love falling apart and not closing out games. So maybe we are as good as our record suggests?

According to a lot of analytics, the Ravens should be undefeated. Bills at 5-5 seems exactly right.

Colts should be a 7-win team, had a close overtime loss against the Rams & the refs screwed us in the Browns game.

Better than record: Texans and Bengals have lost games they shouldn’t have and both can be explosive on offense. Jets with Rodgers would be 7-2 right now, in my opinion. Chargers have had some unfortunate losses that could have easily gone their way.

Worse than record: Steelers, I’m not impressed after seeing them barely beat my garbage team. Commanders have only beat bad teams, being so close to .500 is misleading. Lions are 1-2 against teams who currently have a winning record. If they had a tougher schedule, they’d be closer to .500. They’re definitely better than the Lions we’re all used to but I don’t think they’re 7-2 good.

PHI is quite good, but worse than 8-1. Ironically they could easily be 9-0 if Hurts doesn't throw the worst interception of his career.

The Ravens and 49ers are the best teams in the league

[–] agk927@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Packers should have 4 or 5 wins. By no means are they a good team, but they've lost some really close games that could have been won easily if even one thing went differently. They have a set of hard games coming up so I assume they'll probably lose most of their remaining games fairly.

[–] Meadows14@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (29 children)

I think we’ve had a lead in 8 out of our 9 games with under 4 minutes to play this season.

We’re 4-5.

Obviously I am biased, but I do think that the 49ers are better than their record. should be 7-2 and really could be 8-1. We deserved to lose all 3, no excuses or anything, but this team is better than every team they’ve played so far. But now we are somehow barely fighting for the lead in our own division.

We should be a one maybe two loss team. Those damn turnovers the first three games hurt so damn much.

Better: Houston (CJ Stroud is going to make life a living hell for the rest of that division for the next 15 years)

Worse: Jacksonville (Trevor Lawrence isn't the generational talent he's touted to be. The Jags have a taller, skinny Blake Bortles)
