I am seeing the same thing, even within an hour of the article being posted.
You need to put a double space at the end of a line if you use only a single return, or two returns for the text to appear on a new line with more spacing between.

This can be enabled in bash by putting these two lines in ~/.inputrc
"\e[A": history-search-backward
"\e[B": history-search-forward

I am always surprised I don't hear more discussion about Automotive Grade Linux.
I could never get this to work with my Sonos speakers but always had hope so I wouldn't need to use their stupid app.
I don't know when it got fixed because I haven't tried in several months, but it's working now!
