Dumbass Overlooking Governmental Existence

[–] _LordMcNuggets_@feddit.org 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There's never the perfect moment, there will always be one more post, or picture, or question you need to post on either Instagram or Reddit. It felt like an addiction for me. When I deleted IG three years ago, I didn't know what to do with my time for weeks. I started taking up old hobbies and reading books again. I never looked back.

Reddit was harder for me too, I was just getting feeds on things I was really interested in, whilst exchanging ideas with others. I like Lemmy because of it's not as large user base - less distractions.

Anyways, welcome to the Fediverse! It'll take some adjusting at first, but guarantee you'll overcome it!

Soulseek and Musicbee (via wine) re-sparked my love for finding, owning and organizing killer music.

Agent 47's cabin. For those that don't know, he's the main character from the Hitman games - and yes, his crib is epic.

I don't see any reason why it would affect your application(s) in the slightest. A good CV is a good CV. You could have @goatfondler.com for all I care.

This is interesting actually and a good point. But surely they don't pose a big security or privacy breach risk? I'm fairly uneducated in this field.

Thank you (: Had to see if Lemmy would be a reliable alternative - and surely enough it is!

Trump is there to serve one function only. Musk won him the election, and now POTUS is Musk's puppet. They don't have to get along, it's a partnership. He famously said, "stealing an isn't difficult, it only requires changing one line of code".

Nothing special, just wanted to make a post because I'm extremely proud of myself today. Reddit was the only thing holding me back, and I'm happy to say that I've just deleted my 8 year old account. I'm now only using open source apps for my android and desktop OS and it feels amazing!

This one's wild

I was on another thread and got deep into learning about the history of certain words and thought I'd post here. What word history origins / facts do you know?

I'll start with two that I recently came across:

  • "‘Wer’ (meaning ‘man’) came from Old High German with the Anglo Saxons 1,500 years ago, and was part of Old English. It then became ‘were’ in Middle English and remains as part of werewolf (‘man wolf’) in modern English." (Source: BillTongg@lemmy.world)

  • "Sculptors in antique Rome could fix mistakes they made by mixing marble dust with wax. If a sculptor was especially gifted and made no mistakes that needed fixing, they would market their art as “sin cera”, which means “without wax”, which is where the word “sincere” comes from." (Source: Pooptimist@lemmy.world)

I genuinely don't remember the exact instances we were speaking about, but it happens from time to team. They released data from a French citizen to Swiss & French authorities in the past, and I'm sure this isn't the only case.
