You and I have definitely worked for totally different companies then.

It's depressing that no other devices are getting SteamOS yet, either as out-of-the-box or at least supported fully day one. Here is why I suspect we are watching it die a second time.
- Valve hasn't released it standalone, which is probably making these manufacturers nervous
- If Valve is even offering it to the manufacturers, money is probably flowing one way or another, as professional service fees to Valve, or ransom demands from manufacturers entrenched with Windows
- Microsoft might still be doing their usual anticompetitive crap, offering incentives to keep SteamOS off of as many devices as possible
We are going to be held hostage on Windows for years to come because this is delaying the critical mass for adoption. Even though there are all the other viable community distros, we need the brand to keep things moving.
I think there were multiple Motorola phones that had the LED unused in stock ROMs, which makes me think it was a patent/legal issue, rather than an engineering decision.
I somehow feel like my life has been enriched.
No true Scotsman and Godwin's law, nice. Anyways, BLM is an obvious continuation of the civil rights movement, and calling them "slacktivists" is derisive and reductionist.
Protesting until you die of old age is not what it used to be. The surveillance of the modern world makes protestors into easy targets if they ever become a true threat. The powers that be have learned plenty from the civil rights era.
Nobody should have faith in any nation to erode in the first place. Every single one has fucked over their neighbors and their own populations to further the ambitions of the rich and powerful. Look to the erosion of antitrust and privacy laws to see where we are headed. Look at how SOPA and other protests have gone. You seriously think nobody knows how to protest anymore, and it's just a generational failing? Despite the obvious ways the oppressors have adapted to the modern world?
Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter are pretty recent examples of where "showing up in numbers" just wasn't enough. The system is rigged and blaming victims isn't getting us anywhere. Anecdotally throughout my life, I have seen uncountable numbers of people come to work/school/etc. with an "I voted" sticker, and my conspiracy theory is that the numbers are meaningless and the people who rigged the system already decide who is winning before the first vote is cast, unless they abandon the plan because their polling shows an absolute landslide that would reveal their fuckery.
Maybe everyone else is seeing something I am not, but what routing path is for internet traffic to "Future PC" and its neighbors? You have the ISP modem labeled as a passthru, which means it is not handling NAT/firewall. What device is binding to the WAN IP address that the passthru will be handing out? An unmanaged switch is not going to do that.
So long, gay Bowser.
When people talk about "washing" produce, they always seem to mean "rinsing" - which is just tap water and no soap. Is this article telling us to actually wash, with soap?
Rinsing removes the outer layers of bio film, which is fine for bacteria that your body can deal with in small amounts, but I assume that is inadequate with a quickly reproducing parasite.
Epic has donated a sizable amount to fund Godot Engine, and other FOSS projects. UE4 and UE5 can both be built from source to run on Linux natively. They are not smothering FOSS or Linux.
