Flatness and toebox width are not at all necessary for a good shoe for squatting. You want non-compressing soles, and some folks benefit from a raised heel. I personally squat in flat shoes, but weightlifting shoes are very common.
Those don’t look like running shoes, they look like they have non-compressing soles.
