We live in a world where we're looking for Mitch McConnell to do the right thing? Oh yeah, we're absolutely fucked.

My middle-school aged kids explained the difference between cooked and cookin' to me the other day, and now they really get to roll their eyes when I intentionally use them in as corny ways as possible.

Bonus points for coming with other, terrible, slang. You can really get a cringe if you say something like "Chat, we're cookin' now - I'm all rizzed up”

...the worst impulses of Hitler and the Nazis could be "controlled" or "tamed" once they bore responsibility for leading the national government (rather than criticizing others' administration of it).

I'm sure it'll be different this time around /s

Sunk cost fallacy hits people hard.

It's true. I never deleted my reddit posts and comments because I spent like 13 years with that account. A part of my brain says "don't delete those, you might need them later." It's like a natural hording instinct.

Keep in mind that's Income Tax. Most rich people don't actually have income, they have capital gains.

Lol I didn't even know they were actually bidding. I saw a Lemmy comment yesterday saying they should, but I didn't think they actually would do it.

That's what is ridiculous to me. The consequences are literally that they might lose their job. Yeah it sucks for them a little bit, but the alternative is destroying our fucking country. It's amazing how many of them choose to bend the knee time and time again.

I know! I hate myself for it but I can't unsee it. I think it's the chin that does it for me. That and the sleaziness...

On a random note, not sure how many Monkey Island fans there are around here, but I can't see Matt Gaetz without seeing Stan the used boat salesman.

Shouldn't this dude be in prison for sex trafficking?

Thanks for the clarification. I'm glad that presidents can't just overturn Justice Department policy when they want.

Wish we had a remind me bot so I can check this comment in 4 years and see if that's still the case.

I dunno about the parasite aspect, but I know COVID has been linked to brain damage. So if you think about it, a large percentage of the population being brain damaged is actually a good explanation for what happened with the election.

There's an issue with posts not showing as read on newer instances of Lemmy.

...and it isn't Denver. Has that ever happened before?

Video and title aren't mine. Just posting for discussion purposes.
