No, but it's so immaterial it hasn't really been worth the effort to exclude it yet

Yes... but... this becomes one of those things that everyone should buy to be prepared but few actually do or they forget.

I keep a little crank-chargeable radio in our emergency kit but most people don't. If the cell networks go down (and they usually do in severe weather and most other big emergency situations) most people will lose all of their access to information.

I wholeheartedly agree, but I don't think there's any saving it at this point. Car manufacturers are dropping it from new models and that's the only actual AM/FM radio most people actually buy these days.

Same thing happened to the phone network. It used to actually be possible to call 911 when the power was out. The central stations all had battery banks and diesel generators. Unless the lines were cut, you had service.

Or will they have to wait for space whales in the end again. Although I doubt they’d want to visit anytime soon.

They don't seem to visit that often anyway. Surely Thrawn and/or Ezra would've tried to hitch a ride back at some point in the past 11 years if more whales had shown up.

Not if the Dems agree to vote to keep him

That seems a tall order given his long history of biting the Dem's hands every time they reach out. This is a problem of his party's own making and stems from not honoring their earlier agreements around the debt ceiling.

Besides, they can't agree to something he hasn't (and won't) ask for.

USB 2 can transfer 1 gigabyte in about 20 seconds

It's still alive and kicking under the old framework though. Most ISPs dropped their news servers ages ago but there are still loads of free and subscription providers out there.

I don't know what this committee thinks it can accomplish that the fediverse hasn't already picked up the torch on, but power to them. The less centralized and more diverse the Internet is, the better.

I agree. I think tech progression has been mostly beneficial, but I could do without DRM and centralized social media.

Not really, no. None of the source material is actually stored inside the model's dataset, so once it's in, it's in. Because of the way they are designed, you can't point to a particular document and just delete that one thing. It's like unscrambling an egg.

What the fuck is going on today?

Interest rates. Loans just got a lot more expensive so big companies are all scrambling to shake down their customers for every penny they can get so they can get more debt off their books.

Nuclear power is also very sensitive to the interest rate environment due to the very high upfront costs and financing. It's probably an even bigger difference in favor of renewables now.

I don't think 24 episodes will be happening any time soon, but it would be nice to have 12-14. Ten is so few, and with the ongoing strikes, it's going to be a while until another season happens.
