Lebron recently set the all time minutes played record, but watching him against a young Thunder squad really throws into stark relief how insane his longevity is.

Lebron has played 54,693 regular season minutes and 11,654 playoff minutes for a total of 66,347 total minutes. The Thunder roster, regular season and playoffs, 55,075.

The Thunder will collectively pass him at some point later this season, but for now, the fact that one person has played more NBA basketball than an entire 18 man roster is crazy to me.

At this point it feels like the Pistons aren't even gonna get the "overlooked/trap game" buff because no one wants to lose to a team on a massive L streak.

It's bad either way, but man... putting it all over the pizza off the bat. Like, if you have to do it at least dip it and don't subject the world to the sight.

Division I is such a wide net to cast. There's 351 D1 basketball school. The talent level at top tier schools like KU or Duke is higher than all but the very best Euroleague teams. Well even then the talent level is probably higher at the schools, but the development level and age (size/strength) goes against them. The other end is bottom of the barrel D1 programs are filled with guys that are never gonna play professional ball at any level.

With that much variance there's no real way to answer the question definitively. But I would say that anyone good enough to get real minutes for a school that's consistently top50ish in D1 is probably good enough to at least make a roster in just about any league.

This lakers half time is killing me.

No 1 in DefEPM +3.2 with a solid OffEPM of +2.3. Chet currently has a higher EPM than players like Tatum, KD, Luka, and Giannis. The next closest rookie is Derrick Lively at -0.7EPM (131st). Early days, but to this point Chet is not just having a good rookie season, but one of the most effective in the league full stop.

OWN THOSE FRAUDS!

*full disclosure I was gonna post this no matter who won.

At the end of a long day I like to crack open a cold one and watch the boys in grey and black go 3v10, the true stars of the NBA.

It's honestly crazy how many immediate impact defenders there are in this class. Ausar, Cason Wallace, Lively, Jaquez are all borderline elite defenders already. There's also a ton of guys with the tools, skills, and attitude, just lacking opportunity to show out Amen, Black, Bilal, OMax, AJax, Camara. I'm sure there's others, and if I missed your guy i'm sorry.

Then there's obviously the court warping defensive presences of Chet and Vic. It's "cheating" a little that arguably the best defensive prospect from last year is debuting with this class, but still. I can't remember another rookie class that had 10+ guys that I could easily see being all-def some day.

Are you tracking how many King/Cold emojis players are getting so far? It'd be interesting to see if there's any correlation with RotY, All-Rook voting at the end of the season.

Where is Max? Lakers fans talked all off season like he was up next, was it just hype or is he out with something?

[–] mpmar@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

DLo and Rui are gonna lose the Lakers a lot of games this season.

If the cap continues to grow at the maximum 10% increase yearly then the cap will be ~200mil when Vic gets his next deal. If he qualifies for a Rose Rule max (30%, with 8% annual raises) he'll get ~350/5. This is the absolute max he can get under the current CBA which runs through '30 (with a '29 mutual opt out). His next deal after that is where he could get a supermax worth ~660mil if the leagues growth stays consistent and he qualifies.

He or anyone else from this draft class who meets the qualifications could be the first to sign 1 billion worth of contracts. Someone from the '21 or '22 class could actually earn 1 billion before or at least at the same time.

Building on your fun fact: Kevin Durant, Paul George, and Bradley Beal all had their highest ppg season of their careers playing next to Russ. Harden and Lebron had their 2nd highest ppg seasons with Russ, for Lebron it was his highest since '06.
