I have these paired with an IFI zen can air for listening to vinyl. Very mids forward sound, but a fairly warm and pleasant tone, not to mention supremely comfortably. Vocals really
pop and are front and center in the mix. Drums sound nice and punchy, and the general tone is fairly balanced. The highs aren’t intolerable IMO and aren’t at all fatiguing. I have a pair of TIGR 300Rs which are some of the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever worn, and once I got the HD599s that immediately changed. These are insanely comfortable. Most have already said that bass isn’t their strong suit, so they would benefit from some EQ. I bought mine for $80 a year and a half ago and don’t regret it one bit.
