Sign up for Backblaze so that you can backup to the cloud. Then get a 5TB HDD for local backup (to replace your 2TB drive). I like OWC (if you’re on Mac). Then keep your working files on your internal hard drive (just the files that are recent that you want to edit, periodically move them to the 5TB drive for archiving). No, copying doesn’t affect image quality.
I don’t think my approach has changed too much over time, I’ve probably always been this way. But for me, the scene/frame is the most important thing. If there’s a person in it somewhere, that’s cool but that’s not what I’m seeking out. In other words, I’m not specifically looking for people. But I’m not running away from them either. I’m just looking for interesting compositions, whatever that involves.
I don’t ask. But I’m also careful to not get in people’s space or be obvious.
Make sure your JPG is sRGB color space. If it’s not, it will look washed out/muted on IG.
