What if I make my own videos with actors and/or voices are entirely imaginary? I don't have the resources to hire a videographer let alone an actor but I can write a script and use AI (and program/script things).

If I make something cool it'd be sad if no one watched it just because it didn't use real human actors and voices.

AI is an enabler. I have not patience for sitting and drawing for hours on end to make extremely detailed art but I'm a creative individual and would love to have the power to bring my ideas into reality. That's what AI art does.

The problem with that, of course is it means that if I'm really serious about an idea I won't be paying some artist(s) to make it happen. I'll just whip open an AI art prompt (e.g.Stable Diffusion or any online AI art generators) and go to town.

It often takes a lot of iteration and messing with the prompt but eventually you'll get what you want (90% of the time). Right now your need a decent PC to run Stable Diffusion (got 8GB of VRAM? You too can generate all the AI images you want 👍) but eventually people's cell phones in their pockets will be even better at it.

Civitai is having a contest to make a new 404 error page graphic using AI. Go have a look at some of the entries:

https://civitai.com/collections/104601

I made one that's supposed to be like the Scroll of Truth meme:

Scroll of Truth meme 404 error page

I made that on my own PC with my limited art skills using nothing but automatic1111 stable diffusion web UI and Krita. It took me like an hour of trying out various prompts and models before I had all the images I wanted then just a few minutes in Krita to put them into a 4-panel comic format.

If I wanted to make something like that without AI it just would never have happened.

It's the real skynet. Hollywood's idea of an evil AI is one that kills all humans. We all know the truth: The most evil AI in reality is the one that maximizes profits.

That show wasn't popular with Gen Z though. How do I know this? Gen Z doesn't watch HBO (they can't afford yet another streaming service and they're too lazy to pirate anything that isn't anime because it's too inconvenient).

Hey now! Starships aren't nearly as complicated!

Bird hearts are too fowl.

I read the article! It suggests in a hundred different ways that Windows 11 sucks and that sticking it out with Windows 10 is a bad idea for a dozen different reasons.

The people here suggesting Linux nailed it. If you're not using Linux at this point you're just being lazy, IMHO. If you have any issues you can always just troubleshoot and fix it but based on the anecdotes posted so far it's obvious no one claiming to have tried Linux has done much of that.

Get off your ass and learn something new for real or stop bitching and bend over for Microsoft with your wallet ready to pay them afterwards for the privilege.

People bitching about Windows on their personal PCs is like people who don't vote bitching about politics.

I said that in 1999 which was, coincidentally the year of the Linux desktop (for me).

The FDA was created to enforce standards of sanitation and prevent false advertising in medicine (e.g. snake oil). The whole, "banning toxic additives" came later after science started understanding physiological dependence and addictive substances (e.g. actual coke in Coca-Cola).

Really, the FDA is an evolution of a lot of preceding government bodies and there's a lot of history involved that they don't cover in school 🤷

There is no substance for which a single molecule can harm you meaningfully.

Prions would like a word.

"Consumers don't like self checkout"‽ Are they crazy? I love self checkout! You know what I don't like? When I have to wait for a self checkout to become available because there's not enough human checkouts.

My local Walmart has about 25% of their checkouts as self checkouts. They'll have 4 lanes open with humans and 1/3rd of the self checkouts won't be operational. This is the worst of all possible options!

If you only plan to have 4 human checkouts why do you have so few self checkouts‽ Arg! It frustrates the crap out of me every time I go there.

Another thing that pisses me off is that the human checkout lanes are designed so inefficiently. In the self checkout I can pick up the scanner and scan everything in my cart at about twice or three times the speed of a human checkout because the human lane has a horrible setup that necessitates taking everything out of the cart to get it scanned whereas with the self checkout one can scan everything while it's still in the cart.

You can scan scan scan at super speed, grab a bunch of bags, then put everything in the bags as needed in your car afterwards. You can be done in seconds!

Or be even more efficient like me and just keep your own bags in the car and skip the whole, "grab some bags" step.

This way also makes the door receipt checker person's job so much faster because they can visibly see everything in your cart; no need to peek into every bag looking for expensive items that may not have been purchased.

Let's move forward, society! Give us 100% self checkout lanes and just have people there to assist with scanning and bagging for the people that need help.

AI will help with sex trafficking by generating all the porn so humans won't need to be involved at all.

In the future the equivalent lawsuit will be from the victims of hackers who used people's PCs to generate porn.
