At the beginning of this year I was interested in a Tank Must Large (not the XL model). Since then they increased the price a little less than 3.000€ to 3.800€ or more than 26%. They swapped the synthetic leather for calve leather, but the price increase is just ridiculous. I like the looks, but they can keep their quartz bullshit watch for this insane price.

Tissot, especially the Gentleman, brings a lot of features of the higher end brands like a high quality automatic movement, great dial, sapphire crystal, very good build quality.

The Gentleman was my first (and is still my only) watch and I wear it everyday. I still cannot convince myself (and my wife) to spend 10x the amount on a Omega or Grand Seiko I desire, when I should rather be saving on a house/ new car/ stuff for my kid or spend time on holidays.

I really don’t get your question. Are you willing to spend 4000 or 6000? That is a difference of 2000 or 50%. Make a budget, then decide. Furthermore: why do you care about specs, are you seriously measure time with it? All feature great quality, manufactured movements.

A watch at this price is an accessory. Go for the one that feels and looks the best on your wrist in your budget. Which suits your clothing style? Which boosts your confidence the most (if needed) when you’re wearing it? Which makes you the least concerned to get robbed in broad daylight while wearing it?

I think the word affordable includes several things: affordable in terms of watchmaking means you get the premium stuff (sapphire crystal, automatic winding with good accuracy, Swiss-made label, good quality), but not the luxury stuff or brands. That’s why most affordable watches start at about 600-1000€, which cover my points.

As an early 30s engineer and soon to be father I only own one watch (Tissot Gentleman Powermatic). My next watch will definitely be more expensive (like 2000-4000€), but probably a lot of time will pass until I will get it. Other stuff like saving for the child, holidays, a house, a new car is more important.
