I’m really focusing on building something from a social media platform. I make more perennial content, so I’m hoping as long as I’m consistent I will grow. Thinking about adding amazon links for items I would be suggesting anyway - may as well get paid. I know this was pretty decent stream of income a while back - is it still worth doing?

How did you find the idea? At what point did you quit? What’s your business? The first wins? The biggest struggle? What’s next?

Hello everyone,

I've been in a bit of a bind and could really use some advice from this knowledgeable community.

About a year and a half ago, I began freelancing for a local company, initially as an independent contractor. My tasks included SEO, website development, and building a custom lead generation tool integrating OpenAI technologies.

Despite proving my worth by developing a successful lead generation system and significantly improving client sites, I encountered some challenges. Initially, the company owner promised me a 50% equity stake but later cited financial struggles due to losing clients, delaying my official onboarding.

Recently, I stumbled upon a legal complaint involving a project I worked on for six months, for which I was paid only $750, despite the company earning nearly $30k from it. This pattern of underpayment seems to have been recurring, leading to substantial financial loss on my part.

Currently, the job market is tough, and with the holiday season, securing new clients is challenging. I'm in a tight spot, supporting a family with a young baby and a girlfriend. I have a promising opportunity with a Fortune 500 company in the new year for the lead generation tool I built since I retained complete ownership of it, but that’s still some time away.

I'm seeking advice on how to navigate this situation. Legal action seems impractical due to financial constraints. How should I approach the job market under these circumstances? Any tips on securing short-term work or managing through this period would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your time and insights.

For context. Im 27. Work a blue collar job making roughly 75k a year. Where I live this isn’t that much. I own an apartment worth roughly 550k atm. When I bought it. It was worth 600k lol.

I need advice because I have roughly 110k liquid cash. I currently have it in a high yield saving. But I wanted to know if there’s anything I can do to have this money work for me.

(crossposting from r/startups)

I'm currently facing a bit of a conundrum and would love to get your insights. I understand that investors typically look for a minimum viable product (MVP) as proof of concept and the viability of a business idea. However, in my case, I need funding to develop my MVP.

This puts me in a tricky position: I can't build my MVP without investment, but getting investment seems challenging without an MVP. I believe strongly in my technology and its potential, but I'm not sure how to proceed.

Has anyone here successfully navigated this situation? How did you convince investors to fund your idea before having a tangible product? Any advice or experiences you could share would be incredibly helpful.

I’m a Growth PM looking to help a few startups here get to profitable growth (for free)

Why: I am bored with my day job, I want to do some good and have fun with some volunteering work. Hopefully meet some cool people working on cool things along the way.

My background: I’ve previously bootstrapped, profitably grown and exited 3 startups with revenues of 10M$+ yearly in the last 9 years. I have spent 17y of my life growing websites, apps, communities and digital experiences. It’s been fun to see the internet evolve to what we experience today!

I probably know a thing or two about going from 0-1-10-100-1000 profitably. So, I want to help a few companies here get there.

DM or just comment if you need any help.

P.S. This really is a free service, I’m just helping myself not be bored and growing digital-first businesses is all I love doing :)

Thinking of marketing and ways to stand out, and I was thinking a square, black business card would be a great way.

Close family and friends have supported the square, another entrepreneurial friend said go with the conventional rectangle.

Thoughts?

I have a startup CBD company. My CBD oil is extracted directly from a USDA organic farm and I have gotten the Organic label approved. I started selling it in stores through a wholesaler and it has done very well. The wholesaler I was using is now out of business so I want to strictly sell it online. I have the website setup. Because there are no middle men in my supply chain I can offer it cheaper than anyone. My question is do I price it very cheap to get more customers or would that give an illusion that the product is not great. CBD oil is severely overpriced and I can tell you it is not that expensive itself but starting the company and setting it up s. So since I don't sell it through a wholesaler now don't know the best way to sell my product. Do I get individual distributors? Sellit as a licensing fee? Sell it as an mlm with many level of distributors? Do I bring in a partner? I just need for people to try it pecause believe me I use it myself and it is amazing There are only a handful of legitimate USDA organic cbd oils on the market and mine is one of them. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi all, advice on here has been great, so thought I’d ask another Q. What do you think is the best website builder platform for a fashion business start-up?

I run a local cleaning service and I want to separate my personal phone with a work phone. What is the best/cheapest way I can set up a separate phone/line? I've heard of Google Voice but I'm not entirely sure how it works. I also seen some people mention Text Now.

Hi guys,

Looking for a manufacturer for my earbuds with my own design and functions.

I am currently engaged in a project focused on developing compact earbuds with my own design. I have already completer the 3D designs for the external casino of the earbuds and have identified the necessary components.

However, I am currently seeking asistence in sourcing the appropiate components, including the battery, speaker, microphone and chipset required for the Active noise canceling feature. The Active noise canceling is the most important part, so this had to be very good.

Additionally, I am interested in exploring the possibility of outsourcing the assembly of these earbuds.

Does anyone has an idea in which country I have to look and How to find the right manufacturer?

Thanks from a startupper!

Just a quick rant: I’m currently starting a company and was looking for local manufacturers in my country for the goods. We have exactly one company that also offer a franchise approach. Thought I should give him a call and ask for some more details. Old guy answered the phone and was super arrogant from the begging and judged for trying to start in the industry at my „young“ age. Tried to be nice and keep talking to him but he did hang up mid sentence.

End of the story: Realised that I dodged a bullet trying to partner up with him. Also found out he imports too and way worse quality. So I’m more motivated than ever to start the business and be his competitor.

Looking to have someone who is a highly-skilled web designer and/or developer in London or anywhere else in the UK to create a high-quality website for my new company. I will have some seed investment cash within several weeks, and will be using a bit of that cash to pay someone to do my company website for me.

If anyone has any personal recommendations or suggestions of where to look, do feel free to get in touch with me. Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone, at the moment I own an agency and I work with social media and ads cretives all day. I do everything alone and more and this part of my day is being more and more boring even that I using chatgpt and some canva automation to help me with it, still looks like it takes a lot from my day and takes out the energy that I should be spending in more important part of the company such as operational and analytical.

At the same time I'm still in the beggining so I can't get more people on my team. Do you know any platform that could help me at the moment? Can't be too expensive or need a lot of work, I'm looking for something that could help me mostly with the creatives and copy.

I’m looking to resell household items and/or video game systems and electronics. Would you recommend business insurance in said case?

I’d be shopping items to customers if it means anything.

And how long have you been one for?

I recently started a passion project with my friend to document the journey of successful Singapore entrepreneurs and get them to share their stories with us.

Having failed 2 businesses before, I thought it would be fun to interview entrepreneurs who've already been through the whole journey and learn how they did it from scratch.

Next week, we have the privilege of interviewing an entrepreneur who scaled his company from 0 to $100M/year in only 4 years, completely bootstrapped.

We have a few questions prepared, but we would love to get feedback from the r/Entrepreneur community as well so the interview can benefit as many people as possible.

Once this interview is done, we hope to transcribe it into an article that can become a valuable resource for other entrepreneurs to read too.

Looking forward to reading all of your responses!

I'm looking to acquire some small businesses (3-5 @ <1.2m valuation) and while I have the basics down reading through financials & doing my own valuations, I want to learn more about strategy and structure as well as learn from past mistakes. Anything books come to mind? A lot of the M&A books I've found are directed toward M&A teams at large corps, which I am not.

Thanks!

Edit: I'm mostly looking at established semi-local small businesses as owners retire increasingly faster... not messing with asset-less, cashflow-less tech startups.

I started a home cleaning business 3 years ago and it’s not profitable. It’s an easy entry business so there is too much competition and it’s difficult to differentiate in this type of business. Everyone claims they provide a quality service. The worst part is that most competitors are using low prices to compete-so a race to the bottom. Looking for advice on how to salvage this?

We have an app that will capture the contact info of anonymous website visitors for re-marketing.

They don't have to take any action on the website, if they simply just visit your website, even if they click off instantly we can capture their contact info.

This is a great way to convert WAY more of the traffic you're paying for and build up a big email list fast.

If you wanna check out a demo let me know

Somedays I get so consumed by getting rich that I work all day. I falsely assume that I'll only be able to enjoy life when I have more money

Then I see people around me who have less money than me, enjoying, and I think to myself, I need to seriously take a break

Nothing feels sweeter than having a good day with a friend or meeting your partner. Or even anything else really

What are ways to live life EVERYDAY but also chase your dreams?

Especially when you make content that requires alot of effort spanning hours or days
Do you feel anxious until you actually post?

And this anxiety never goes, because there is always something more to produce

I want to record myself doing certain tasks that involve physically moving around, using tools or equipment, that shows how I want things to be done, etc.

I follow Tommy Mellow, and he did this for his assistants and I think it will save me a lot of time, something that is very valuable for me.

This will not be a product that will be seen by anyone other than my personal assistant. They are for reference purposes.

For example, my Executive Assistant will clear my office (and desk) up daily. I want to record myself doing that task so I can show how I want things placed. Simple thing, but a lot of works and difficult to explain in just words. So a video (or at least photos accompanying a lot of words) would work best for me.

My problem is, how do I record it? I will use my phone or ipad, but should I talk as I am doing things? This may get a bit long and boring. It will be awkward if I hold the phone or tablet, so maybe put it on a stand and have it set in a position that say captures my whole office as I clean up the office and explain where I want certain things?

If the recording works for simple, basic things like this, I may use it for our larger operational SOP's as well.

Basically, I was going through a financial crisis when I got this client. I live in India and my client is from the USA. They are a company selling cookies and cupcakes. The elite kind. I make content for all their social media and also handles them. I am a graphic designer primarily and the social media handling job was a side gig that I picked on in the company. I’ve been doing it for two years now so learnt pretty much a lot about it. They make me post at least 20 stories every day and 4 posts including a reel. I create all the content and don’t take a leave. They pay me 800$ per month. I am charging the same for my other clients also but they require only 4 posts a week and few stories which is not a bother. Anyway my primary client is asking me to cut down my payment. I would rather let them go honestly. But they are not agreeing with me when I tell them that I am their cheapest option. It had me wondering if social media management is that cheap in the USA? Enlighten me.
