Not sure if this is a hot or cold take, but I was thinking about how much I like the HD 600 series cables, love Audeze cables, and loathe Hifiman cables. So yeah, what stock cables do you all think are really good or really bad for whatever reason?

I recently got the PC38X headphones and I plugged them in to listen to some music and for some reason, there is absolutely no bass. I don't understand because I just had Corsair Void Pros before this and they had wayyyyy more bass. Everything sounds like I'm listening through a tin can.

This seems like a pretty sweet deal. I’ve read only a little on these cans and the impression is that these are pretty fantastic. Do these have a specific purpose? Are they critical listening headphones? I’d like to learn more about them.

Hey, so mostly just posting as a general rant, but also a warning for anyone thinking about picking one of these up. In August (8/22/22) of last year I bought the a90d basically right at launch.

In April, the left side of my headphones began popping and crackling. After switching things in and out of my chain, I figured out it was my a90d. Specifically the 4 pin xlr output. The SE output was totally fine and I don't own anything that plugs into the 4.4 mm output. I started an RMA process with headphones.com on 04/02/23. I did not receive my unit back until July 28th (4 months).

Important piece of back story: I moved to a new house, switched power strips, upgraded headphones, all since starting the RMA process and before it returned to me. So I know for a fact it's not some weird power issue on my end.

All was fine until yesterday, where once again, my headphones started popping. This time in the right ear. Didn't take long to figure out the issue was once again the 4 pin xlr output on my a90d. Still working through a solution with headphones.com.

To answer the obvious questions: I've never had a problem with any other piece of my audio gear. I own nearly a dozen pair of headphones and a couple amps/dacs including mostly Topping. I don't do that much headphone swapping. Maybe once or twice a week. I'm usually stuck on one pair as my "main" for long periods of time, only occasionally pulling another pair out for fun. So I really don't think it's something I'm physically doing.

Thanks for reading my rant

This is the cable for my Sennheiser headphones. does is have a particular name??? Mine isn't working properly and I've been trying so hard to find a new one to buy but nothing comes up in my country with just searching for it. I don't know what the thinner part is called.

I recently scored a pair of used Sennheiser 579's for only $20. The current drawback of these right now would be the constant smell of cigarettes since the last owner was a smoker. The smell is particularly bad with the earpads and headband. While I was able to get aftermarket earpad replacements, I am not too sure how to get the smell out of the headband.

The head band is not replaceable. Its made out of fake leather with a plush/foam interior. Any ideas on how to get rid of the smell so I can really enjoy these things?

So i just got my new EW 200 as my first IEM and my first impression is very good. It has very good build and the package come with 3 sets of eartips which is kinda nice. But the problem begins when i listen to some tracks, IT’S TOO SIBILANT like the s and t sound really piercing especially the s sound. I try to Eq it by lowering the 7k hz by -9 db and it’s still really bright for me. Is it bc I’m treble sensitive? or mine hadn’t burn in yet? and is there any way that i can fix this plz help i’m kinda disappointed since this is my first IEM and i hear a lot of good things abt it🥲

Title already says it all.

How is anyone who is wearing glasses able to ignore those enormous creaking sounds of glasses on earcups?

Have you found any solution for that?

The issue is the female jack socket, which is very crackly and I think needs replaced. Unfortunately it seems to be glued in place. The body of the headphones is wood - what's the best way to get it free?

Being an audiophile for the last couple of years and dealing with IEM’s has truly be a blessing. I have learned so much from people and have seen the goodness and the not so good from this world and its fans. I think this is the way of things with all things, not just with Audiophile groups. But when I look back over my life and just how blessed I’ve been to be able to find ways to afford this very expensive hobby that it can end up being, two brand standout the most in my whole life for IEMs. Those brands are MoonDrop and Thieaudio. These brands have served as the backbone of greatness from mid tier to killobucks IEM’s. And sitting here listening to my Monarch MK2 I’m in sure marvel of the richness and mid range magic …I see the steps I took to reach this point. From the Starfield to the Kato, blessings 1,2,3, and others, from the Oracle MK2 to the Monarch MK2 and all things between. These brands have meant the world to me. The slow progress I took to build to this moment of my endgame and understanding the law of diminishing returns to keep myself from spending unnecessary money on side-grades, all played a big part in my life. The role each step I took to understand what I loved so much about the timbre, tonality, imaging, mid range flat frequency love, to the sub bass, and treble extension. Every one of my steps taken gave more education and discipline into this hobby. So I’m so thankful for companies like Moondrop and Thieaudio for their amazing creations and tiers of art that they brought to my life and to this IEM hobby. So grateful, so blessed, and so indebted!

Hello, folks

My Zero Red arrived 5 days ago and it's already presenting this issue. Left side is noticeably lower than the right, treble is practically non existent

Have you guys come across such an issue before?

I work in a fabrication shop that is very loud so instead of wearing ear plugs, I wear in ear monitors with good enough isolation so that I can listen to YouTube while I work. A lot of people with a loud workplace probably do this, I assume.

I know that etymotics are divisive because of how deep they fit. I ordered a pair of ER2XR And if they don't work out for me, I can just return them to Amazon, but I figured I'd ask around ahead of time, for anybody who likes this brand and the way that they fit, and finds it comfortable, have you ever tried to wear them for the full length of a normal work shift? What was your experience with it? If it was uncomfortable at first, but you figured out a way to make it work, what did you do that helped? Basically what I'm looking for is any possible tips to help improve comfort to increase the likelihood that I can make them work for me.

It is Friday; there is rain; I am stuck at home with a sick kid. The doorbell rings: a package from Thomann.

After much pontificating and procrastinating I've got a DT700 Pro X (yeah, I've got a thing for closed-back cans). These are really nice. My young daughter, despite being sick, took one look as I opened the box and said she wants them (yes, I raised her well, she loves cans and her musical taste is esquite: she bops away to Toyah with much enthusiasm).

Initial impressions are good. They fit my head (despite people saying the headband is tight). Feel wonderful. Solid build. And the sound isn't too bad: I quickly plugged into a nearby iPad and played a few tracks from Agitation Free, Propaganda, and Tangerine Dream, and they coped well. Hopefully I'll get some time to have a proper listening session when I'm not surrounded by sick kids.

I tried many different headphones and i discovered that im very sensitive to bluetooth. Whenever I listen for like 5 to 10 minutes I get a headache. Im looking for headphones with lighting jack for iphone that has cables and is fairly sturdy, comfy and I dont have to turn volume all they way up to hear something at louder place. Thank you for reading this.

My Master & Dynamic MH40 Wireless Gen2 headphones have developed a fault that casues a notification sound to play every few seconds, interrupting playback. I contacted their support who were initially helpful until I sent them my original proof of purchase showing them being out of their (short) warranty. They told me it's likely a driver or battery issue and they do not make any spare parts available. These shouldn't be thrown away after 2.5 years.

In retrospect I suppose the clues were there for this company - charging $29 for 3.5mm audio cable.

Obviously I will never buy one of their products again no matter how good they sound. I wonder if people know of manufacturers who do provide spare parts and are on the right side in terms of right to repair?

So I feel like DAP’s have gone full circle

Now they are offering aptX bluetooth and other wireless communications… pretty crazy IMO

Phones got so good but I use an iPhone so no aptX

Is there a DAP with a powerful graphic (like a 31 band?) or parametric EQ? MOST IMPORTANTLY one that doesn’t dramatically change the sound when engaged? Car stereos and home theaters do this fine but I have noticed lots of apps for wireless headphones and some MP3 player change the sound dramatically when you enable or activate the EQ in even a small amount, like 1 tick anywhere lowers the volume dramatically or dramatically changes the sound.

Would also like AAC support

I plan to run Thieaudio Monarchs, Shure SE535’s and Focal Clears from it and maybe something wireless like Sony WF-1000XM5’s or Bathy’s.
