So I finally got my zero red today, tried it on, its good. But the tip doesn't go as deep as i thought, in fact it's quite literally the same compared to my previous earbuds. Not that its bad or anything, but is it supposed to go that deep?

Just upgraded my audio setup to work seamlessly with the new iPhone 15, thanks to its USB-C port. I’ve always appreciated the sound quality from my Monolith amp, but it had one quirk: separate mini USB ports for data and power and didn’t work with the iPhone on the go.

To streamline this, I created a custom cable merging these two ports into a single USB-C connection. Now, my iPhone 15 connects directly to the amp, enabling a stunning 192kHz audio output.

Excited to share this for those looking to enhance their own setups.

I'm currently using Apple music on the M11S, but I ran out of space on my SD card for downloads. I'm curious if it's possible to move the downloaded music to my PC then move it to another SD card. Will Apple Music automatically recognize and play the music on the new SD car

6 months ago, I ordered He1000 v2 and got Stealth version instead, my only reason for ordering the v2 was the soundstage but sadly in my country I can’t return it back. I am not sure how the stealth stage is compared to the v2 or the HD800s. I am also experiencing strange thing and not sure if it’s happening to any of you which is my right ear get fatigued quickly after like 30 minutes of listening to it. I eqed them to oratory presets made for the v2 but that didn’t helped much in this regard. Anyone experience on ear fatiguing before?

Move over snake oil, black rice oil is here!

  • "Unleash the Potential of Your In-ear Monitors"
  • "Say goodbye to ordinary sound and embrace the extraordinary."
  • "..no ordinary cable; it's a masterpiece in itself."
  • "..this cable is your gateway to audio nirvana."

The marketing tactics to separate us from our money just keep evolving more & more.

Thoughts?

Recently i saw a timmy made a stop this hobby right now and keep some iem, and thought of this. Not everyone has the luxury to keep many stuff. So if you guys get to choose just one item to keep forever what would it be?

My choice is the Monarch mk2. 😀

After lurking on this sub and watching a bunch of reviews, I landed on Focal Bathys for travel and commute. I love the build quality of these headphones, the ability to connect USB-C to USB-C audio especially now with the iPhone 15 Pro Max has been clutch. The only thing I would say is the personalized audio update for the Focal app feels janky. I think I failed multiple times to discern those dang beeps.

I also got a Hifiman Arya Organic. I've never owned a open planar magnetic headphone in my life and man these sound so good. I'm not getting a bunch of soundstage that people tote these have, but I guess I don't have that much experience listening to other headphones in this price range.

I mostly bought the Organic to listen to my vinyl collection more intimately, but soon wanted to be able to listen to more things on my PC so I went and got the XDuoo TA-22. I was curious about tube amps and this was a great one stop DAC Amp to suit my needs. Will try tube rolling but so far enjoying the sound already. Got it direct from ShenzenAudio and it only took a week to get here in Vancouver!

I think I'm set in my audio journey for awhile now, on to the music!

So I own a full Sonos surround system, and every day I watch anything or listen to music on it, it just sounds absolutely unreal. But had me wondering, does anyone reckon Sonos will tap into the Headphone market ever? Because I know for sure I’d snap them up ASAP!

Hello everyone! I just slaved away at making this in-depth tutorial on how to use Peace APO / Equalizer to change EQ settings. Basically its how to make HD8XX use the Oratory EQ Profile.

I have it on my website as well, there is where you will find tutorial pictures, links to the preset itself along with custom presets I made in a 115kb zip, that I will provide here. Please don't take my post down just because I link to it, I worked hard on this.

The website is: http://moco.net the presets with an included instructions READ ME is: https://moco.net/mnet/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/MocoPeaceAPOPresets.zip

Let's get started!

----

Oratory HD8XX Settings

With Peace APO open do the following:

Click on the RED MINUS/NEGATIVE SIGN until there are 10 BANDS.

- Go into Settings, Click on the ‘Settings’ button near the far bottom right. Click on the ‘Sizes and Amounts Settings’ tab up top, I highlighted the Snap to dB gain area, changed this to 0.1, and clicked the ‘Save’ button at the bottom left to bring you back into the main Peace APO interface screen.

#1. Up top near Pre Amplifyng type the actual negative/minus sign on your keyboard and the numbers 7.4. Like this: -7.4

#2. Look to the bottom near Gain Values, Type: 5.5

#3. Near Quality (Q) Type: 0.71

#4. Click on the small box picture of a wave graph and change it to ‘Low Shelf Filter Q as slope Control’ it should be a red line/ramp.

The following are straight numbers to plug into your program.

That’s it! Now I’ll simplify it just a little more and have you on your way to inputting these numbers in no time.

Frequency Band #1 = 105

Gain Values = 5.5

Quality (Q) = 0.71

So, last year I decided I really wanted a pair of over the head headphones (I usually use AirPods), but obviously tried a bunch of them out. I have many friends with Bose, Sony, and Beats headphones- but none in my opinion had the same kind of sound quality that the Max's had- with only the Sony XM5's coming close imo. While they are an extremely premium product especially for headphones that usually range from 100-500, I think they're totally worth it. They're incredibly easy to clean, comfortable, made with high quality materials, and the sound is truly truly amazing- especially with the Dolby Atmos feature on Apple Music. SO amazing.

I'm thinking of leaving a FB group called Chifi audio reviews because daily there's people asking the same unfounded questions about what cables sound the most transparent, or tame treble, or increase detail etc. Sometimes it's the same thing but about DACs which I almost understand (shitty outputs can make headphones and IEMs sound thin and lean but I think that's just a matter of bad designs). Burn in is another such culprit. Do just a couple of minutes of searching online and you'll be presented with facts and reasoning telling you it's bunk.

It drives me nuts, it's like having flat earthers and scientologists everywhere in the hobby everywhere I turn. It's slowly driving me nuts, lol.

Moondrop Blessing2 + Spinfit W1 tips + balanced modular cable + Fiio BTR3K

This setup is comfortable and secure in my ears all day long & sounds great on the 2.5mm balanced port of the btr3k. I usually keep in it LDAC or APTX-Hd and its basically indistinguishable from lossless. Plenty of power and an overall pleasing sound signature thanks for the AKM dac.

I'm looking to get detailed high end headphones/earspeakers specifically for soundstage, i'd love to hear from people who've heard some or all of the headphones i mentioned above.

If I had known earlier... it would have been much cheaper to go to a audio show in another country than the money and time I lost buying/selling gears while doubting as I did.

I learned that there was a show finally, a little discreet, in my town. Finally an opportunity, there are not many headphones demos in my country. This saved me from making the mistake of bought the Susvara. Everything indicated from the reviews, comments, the fact that I like a lot the other hifiman headphones, that I was going to love this headphones. I was very disappointed. Ended whit raal sr1a, I preferred it, by far, to everything I could try.

OK I must be crazy, right? I just got the Sennheiser IE 900 since the vast majority of reviews say it's like the IE 300 (which I love the fit in particular), but next next next level.

So I thought great, upgrade to the 900 and sell the 300... but no matter what I do, I feel like the 300 has significantly more bass and power versus the 900. I thought perhaps my fit is just way off? But I tried with the same tips as the 300 to ensure I'm comparing apples to apples and still felt like the 900 was just... weaker? Significantly less bass? Didn't really feel like I was getting anything more at all. Not even remotely worth 4x the cost over the 300.

So did I do something wrong or anyone else have the same experience?

Bonus question: I recently sold my Shure SE 846 to get the IE 900 since so many reviewers say the 846 is dated and not great any more... but I have to say the Shure had a MUCH better bass presence without being overpowering. I just could never get the SE 846 to feel comfortable... so anyone else struggle with the comfort and find a way to make it work? Are there magical tips I should try that would do it? (I tried Spinfit W1 and Westone Stars, both eventually were uncomfortable in mainly my right ear after some time).

Also note I'm a drummer so I do prefer a stronger bass presence. Thanks in advance for your thoughts here..

I am a basic user, I only use headphones to listen to music and watch movies, I have bought wireless headphones up to 30 euros (I know they are very cheap) the problem is that all the headphones hurt me, the headband headphones are very uncomfortable for me, I have bought many wireless headphones but for some reason they all sound very bad for me, I have a sony MDR-E9LP headphones and they are fantastic for me, they sound very good, but I bought the xiaomi bus 4 lite and I have the feeling that they sound worse than the sony headphones of 5 euros, in addition, the xiaomi have a delay in the audio and it is impossible to play or watch movies, is it just my feeling or the MDR-E9LP sound better?

Okay please forgive me for asking this but I have a Fiio K7 with some Hifiman Anandas Stealth plugged into them using a balanced cable.

Does balanced output = better sound or just more power?

I was a bit of a lemming and decided to go balanced because of a youtube review I found for the K7.

Is it just more power or does it sound better or does it depend on the DAC/Amp?

Burning in my headphones. What would be best, heavy metal, death metal, bass heavy hip hop? References wanted

I gotta make this post long enough so it won't get deleted...

I'm using a smartphone with the headphones connected to the headphone jack. I'd use my portable amp, but it doesn't have an hp jack input and the phone needs to use the USB-C port for charging.

So I am starting to move up from the entry-level stuff. I have a SMSL DL200 and Wiim mini pro plus. A70pro has been on sale so I figured at least I will have the nice-looking VU meter and the most powerful amp at this price range, and I don't have to worry about not giving any headphones enough power. I also want to start tradtionally before branching off to tube/amps or products with other features (at the amp level). I amy eventually get the D70 to compelte the stack, but that would be the same price as getting a Dx9. But I decided against the DX9 (very pretty) because

  • early bathces of Topping products tend to be iffy (juding my online posts)
  • the sales person assured be that Topping has fixed whatever that was giong on wrong with the A70pro in the earlier batches
  • the A70pro is actually powerful
  • I will have the freedom to mix and match

I decided to hold off getting a matching stack with D70 because:

  • from my undersatnidng, quality improvement from upgrading DACs matter a lot less (depending who you talk to), and I can see if the Wiim Pro Plus or the SMSL DL200 as a DAC could do for now (which is part of the experimentation mentioned)
  • I wonder if there could be better valued DACs (with more features) -- with DSP (e.g., Chord Mojo 2) or whatever.
  • Maybe a new cool streaming Dac with a great DAC chip/section comes out and I would want that instead.
  • I can always get a d70 eventually.

thoughts?
