Community Rules

You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Use content warnings and/or mark as NSFW when appropriate. Most posts with content warnings likely need to be marked NSFW.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Avoid shilling for corporations, posting advertisements, or promoting exploitation of workers.

Proselytization, support, or defense of authoritarianism is not welcome. This includes but is not limited to: imperialism, nationalism, genocide denial, ethnic or racial supremacy, fascism, Nazism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, etc.

Avoid AI generated content.

Avoid misinformation.

Avoid incomprehensible posts.

No threats or personal attacks.

No spam.

I assume this is fine for the rules since punching Nazis is kinda the whole gist of 196. Also there's no real rules to follow 🤷‍♀️

I'm really just here for the memes y'all

I don't think lemmy.world would be a good home for 196 so I'm glad that onehundredninetysix was created. But I haven't yet been convinced to abandon ship on the original 196 yet and unsubscribe. (Insert Mean Girls "I wish we could all get along like we used to in middle school" scene playing in my head...)

Anyway when I'm scrolling through my feed, the posts from both communities are labeled as coming from "196" even if they're coming from onehundredninetysix. I have to click into the post and then to the community to tell which it's coming from.

Which is all to say: no one call me a traitor for enjoying a meme regardless of which community it's posted in, okay? I otherwise followed the rule. Thanks
