Hi all,

A short background: I'm from the UK and I am a professional in my field of work, and want to make some additional income by offering one-on-one coaching services online. Initially I was setting up a store on Shopify and was almost ready to go until I started learning about GDPR compliance, privacy laws, and the endless rabbit hole of other laws and regulations that need to be complied with internationally. I currently don't have the funds necessary to hire a lawyer or seek professional advice, and quite simply don't want to take any risks by being non-compliant through my own ignorance / lack of understanding of the law.

I then looked at services which act as a platform for freelancers, like Fiverr, for example. I was slightly put off by the number of low-quality and non-professional-looking adverts on there, and am concerned that I could damage my professional reputation by using it (I could be completely wrong, but if I got that impression then it's possible that others will too).

What I'm wondering is if there is something like Fiverr where I can offer my services that has a bit more of a professional look, something like SkillShare or Udemy but for one-on-one coaching as opposed to pre-recorded courses.

Thanks for any help/advice! :)

Hi everyone!I just launched my project on Product Hunt, and I wanted to share the insane launch day we had on Product Hunt. Hope it helps someone else with the same issue!

So, launch day comes, and it's like we're invisible. Our product's up, but no one can see us. No biggie right? After all, products are shuffled around randomly for the first 4 hours. We had some early upvotes, but they were from people who had signed up for our “Coming Soon” page. No organic views.

The first 4 hours ended. Still hidden. Now we were freaking out. Despite all this, we still had 130+ upvotes at this point and should be at #6 and immediately reached out to Product Hunt. All we found online was that sometimes Product Hunt doesn’t feature your post if you have violated their community guidelines(we hadn’t!).

Then late at night, when we had almost given up, Product Hunt support got back to us and reinstated us. We finally show up and at #7! It had been 10+ hours since the launch and almost midnight here. Talk about a last-minute save! We pulled an all-nighter, running on coffee and adrenaline. By morning, we hit #4.

The day was spent engaging non-stop, sharing our story, and connecting with the community. The crazy part? And in the literal last hour, we made a surprising leap to #3. It was a wild finish to an unforgettable day.

We lost some time(almost half the day!) and missed out on a LOT of site visitors and users but the support we got was unreal. It wasn't smooth, but man, was it memorable. For more details, you can read on IndieHackers.

I hope this gives some hope to fellow entrepreneurs out there. Launch days can be wild, but hang in there! I'd love to hear your thoughts and stories - Have you had a launch day that didn’t go as planned? How did you handle it?

!Feel free to check out Synced.so(https://synced.so) and share your feedback :)!<

Hey everyone,

I used Omegle for some lighthearted banter but it has been shutdown abruptly so there are people scrambling to find a good alternative.

I have decided to create a new text only spin off of Omegle as that's the mode I used the most and am familiar with.

Following is what I have built till now:

 1. Connect to a random stranger.
 2. Use common likes to enhance partner search.

You can try to initial build on the test server here: https://chatlit.codexn--4v8h.online/

Due to the nature of anonymous chat, the predators are going to come sooner than later. Hence, I have built a MANDATORY LOGIN SYSTEM so as to verify that a real person is using the site. Your personal info (email) will never be used to send you emails or for identification.

What features I have in mind:

 1. Anonymously add friends. The option becomes available after 10 messages from each partner.
 2. An option to have video chats. The option becomes available after 10 messages from each partner.

I am meaning to build this service for the folks who are seriously looking for someone to talk to for whatever reason. I just want that all of us are able to find someone who is genuine.

So, here is the feedback I am seeking from the community:

 1. What key feature do you want in this service?
 2. Any particular feature which you would love to see in such a service?
 3. Any other feedback which will keep it clean and safe?

Hey r/SideProject,

I would like to share this story with you.

On November 27th, I launched Conntent on Product Hunt. The app was working fine when I scheduled the launch, but as soon as the launch happened, I pushed a new version that integrated logging of an event using Google Analytics which caused my app to crash.

I learned about this bug halfway into the launch. I tried fixing it but was unable to figure out what was wrong. Product Hunt gave me free users, but this bug stopped them from converting into paid ones.

I have now fixed the bug, and the app is working fine. Hoping to get some paid users now.

Hope you learned something from this story of mine!

Peace.

Hello,

For the past 2 years I've been working on a board game that I will publish in 2024 - Survive Tomorrow: The Infection (images below). Which is a 2-3 player board game that you go around various locations, combat enemies, find resources and race against time, noise and enemies - a true survival game in a world that went to pieces. So super happy with how the game turned out and while the design and testing were closing to an end. I was feeling exhausted from the amount of work and time put into the game.

https://preview.redd.it/x4st20g6qc3c1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca54e45ce76235d772a20aeac63014e880be0b23

https://preview.redd.it/ejessyf6qc3c1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eb8c29f8b18e8d24a40f212adcd6e91bb9af61af

https://preview.redd.it/hj6bb2g6qc3c1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad7c72e620df61b7a713c5a8351219bead3f8512

https://preview.redd.it/mmynbzf6qc3c1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb5a84dab47ece6965a2300e8765f91cc7f35cf4

One day I was going across the country for two weeks and forgot to pack the game for testing. So not to sit idle, I've written down the very essence of the game on two pages and have a smaller version of the game to test it out, but that sparked another idea, why not make a more portable version of the game. After playing around with some formulas, I've taken the same core essence of the main game and reforged them into a solo Roll & Write game.

https://preview.redd.it/wmzhp0q7qc3c1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=13dd1a962ca0e32ed21329f27801797e7bd39156

After couple of days, here it was a simplistic still version of The Infection: Roll, Write and Fight. After those 2 weeks without the main game, I've came back with something much more, not only I've had a break to gather my thoughts, but also came back inspired and head full of great ideas.

One of the best parts is it only requires to print 3 pages, spice it up with about 8 dice and a pencil (or if laminated - add a pen).I was able to squeeze a lot of variability and replayability into such a small game, but also make it so much fun and an amazing intro to the big brother game that will come in 2024.

More information about the PNP Roll & Write game can be found here:

Problems:
=> Too many priorities: We prioritise everything and have a long to-do list. So naturally, we feel overwhelmed and start procrastinating.
=> Low-impact tasks: We do not analyze the impact of tasks that we are doing.
=> Rabbit hole called Internet: Constantly distracted by the new information ( ah, the dopamine).
=> Out of sight, out of mind: We planned, prioritized, and wrote all our tasks in a to-do list app or a notebook but forgot to check/review them regularly.

Solution:
I have created a small Chrome extension:
- It allows you to write only 3 critical tasks of the day. But you have to decide the criticality. (Cut tasks, the 80/20 rule really works)
- Show your tasks every time you open a new tab. ( continuous reviewing)
- All tasks remain stored in your browser. (Privacy first)
- Everyday tasks get reset to give the day a fresh start. (Forces you to revisit priorities every day)
Give it a try (it's free), and let me know your thoughts => https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/quanta/dgcjbndgnbijalfbgghckbefgcfmdiij

Hello!

Recently I've built https://chatspell.co/ which is Slack-integrated Live Chat software dedicated for early-stage startups. My plans is to create a software with three pillars:

- customer chat (later integrated with AI)

- ticket management

- feature requests something like canny

Combining these three components means startup gets completely end to end platform for iterating feedback. I didn't see that in competition. Also my advantage is that Chatspell is strongly connected to Slack.

However I have problem with getting any interested people into that. Google Ads are not working, because often people searches for s*x chat, not Live Chat software. Facebook Ads - there was visits, but no signups. What do you think, where can I market my app?

I'm thrilled to introduce my first SaaS business: Argumentor. This tool is designed to revolutionize the way students write essays and conduct research.

Understanding that one of the biggest hurdles for students is sourcing credible information and structuring compelling arguments, Argumentor steps in to simplify this process. Just input your essay question or topic, and Argumentor will not only find relevant articles for you but also craft arguments to enhance your essay.

I'm excited to see how Argumentor can help students in their academic journey. Give it a try for free and let me know what you think!

Hey there, I want to share one of my side projects with you, called ChatRPG. It’s a text-adventure game powered by (as the name suggests) Chat-GPT. Traditional text RPGs have a hardcoded storyline and character, which can be completely solved with the power of generative AI by giving you unlimited customization of the world, the character, and your decisions.

This is what you can expect:

🧙‍♂️ Create a deep and interesting character persona shaped after your description

🗺️ Explore AI-Generated Worlds: Every adventure is unique, thanks to AI-generated locations, storylines, and enemies.

🎶 Immersive Sounds: Enhance your experience with a guided narrative and fitting music based on your character’s location

Interested? You can check out http://chatrpg.de for free today, all you need is an OpenAI API key. Otherwise, you can learn more here: https://codescourge.github.io/chatrpg-landing/.

Please note that this is a very early testing version and that if any bugs or suggestions come up, it would mean the world to me if you could notify me at ivan.chatrpg@gmail.com Happy adventuring!

Been a long time lurker on this sub, just like to share what got my little passion project over 20k views in a month:

https://preview.redd.it/7d6mdew5z93c1.png?width=1364&format=png&auto=webp&s=57e3d86064f1e52ffbfd97500fbe289932c22632

IndieHustle.co is a little site where I interview indie founders on how they started and grew their businesses.

What worked:

HackerNews

- Leaving comments and engaging with related posts on HN has been beneficial. Although I did not have any posts or comments that went viral, but I got a healthy amount of traffic coming in from this source regularly.

Tried a number of #ShowHN posts but didn't get more than 3 upvotes on these posts.

Reddit

- Similar to HN, I used the same strategy and it has helped, but not as much as the traffic I am getting from HN.

- Did had a post went viral on r/Entrepreneur 3 months ago, but no traffic has come in from this source for the last month

What didn't:

Twitter / X

Spending time and effort to tweet and engage with others on Twitter has not borne any fruits yet. Less than 1k traffic is from Twitter, although I do see some potential coming from using the #buildinpublic hashtag in my tweets.

Next steps

Will continue to work on Twitter as I feel this channel has potential, but will be a slow and arduous process.

Looking forward to work on LinkedIn and SEO next for IndieHustle.co, if anyone has any tips, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for reading, and thank you to this sub for giving me the motivation to start my own r/SideProject!

Hi everyone! I'm launching my side project and unlike my previous projects, I want to share my progress publicly. My first step is to share my launch strategy.

Here's what i'm doing for the first few days. I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!

Plan

 1. Scrappy demo video
 2. Show HN
 3. Reddit
 4. Twitter
 5. Backlinks
 6. Ads

Scrappy Demo Video: I've created a short video showcasing the app's capabilities without any direct promotion. Keep it super simple. I will use that video when posting on Twitter.

Show HN: In the past, my projects didn't gain much traction with HN, but I've seen some valuable traffic come through even with a few upvotes.

Reddit: I'll be sharing insights on r/OpenAI and r/OpenAIDev about building my product with the GPT-4 Vision API.

Twitter: My project was inspired by 2 videos sharing new capabilities with the new openai vision API. I will mention those creators hoping to get more reach.

Backlinks: I own multiple websites getting hundreds of unique daily visitors. I adding backlinks in the footer and announcement banner on all of them.

Facebook Ads: I will spend $20/day on Facebook Ads just to an get idea on my cost to acquire a user.

Why I'm Skipping Product Hunt (PH): Given my limited reach and the challenges of breaking through on PH, I'm holding off on this platform for now. I will probably still post on PH later to get their SEO backlink.

That's it!What else do you think I could do to enhance my launch? Any feedback or experiences you'd like to share would be immensely helpful!

I am a software developer with a full time job. My salary is not enough for me rely completely on job, and I cant take the risk of leaving my job and finding another one, because I live paycheck to paycheck and dont have any savings.

Lurking through buildinpublic and here on reddit, I feel like a loser.

I am comparatively good doing full stack development ( Nodejs, React etc ). Considering my strong and weak points I came up with following projects in 2 categories.

 1. Build some products My strong points are: I can spend time building projects, but I dont have money to buy servers or to launch them, minimum cost considering database and all would be around $100/month ( Coming from India, this amount is huge for me, Its approx 8000/month )
 2. Build design templates I can spend time learning about designs since, initial investment here is low ( cost of figma, framer ) and then sell templates which can eventually help me earn sustainable amount of money, But issue is, My design skills are complete zero. For example, I get confused when I want to decide colors, or fonts.

So which path I should spend my time on ?

48

What's your opinion when it comes to side projects and teaming up with others? I am struggling to decide if teaming up is better than going at it alone or not. Sometimes two heads are better, sometimes not, and two heads clash! So, how do you solve conflicting opinions regarding your projects?

Hey everyone I am new here, I have a burning question on my mind and thought this would be the best place to share it.

Hi there!

I built an alternative to Google translate that's fast, accurate, and 1/30th the price. 20+ supported languages, not billed until 100k tokens, and already used thousands of times with real language learning users.

The landing page has a demo for you to test performance yourself for free. (Also landing page says 1/13 the price because had to account for all 3 big names, with varying prices each).

Test it out for yourself (no card or account required) :)https://translateapi.web.app/

I'm excited to share https://picapetname.com: an AI-powered website that generates creative names for pets based on their photos. Being a pet lover and AI enthusiast, I wanted to combine these passions to create something fun and engaging.

Here's how it works:

 1. Upload Your Pet's Photo: Snap a clear picture of your pet and upload it.
 2. Choose a Name: The AI will suggest names that match your pet's appearance and personality. You select your favorite!
 3. Receive a Certificate: After selecting a name, you get a personalized certificate featuring the chosen name and your pet's photo, ready for sharing or printing.

I'm looking for feedback to improve and would love to hear your thoughts. What do you think about the name suggestions? Are there any additional features you'd like to see?
