Yeah most space age material names are. It's dacron wrapped in mylar surmounted in inconel plated in clyno and attached with velcro. Which of those did I make up?

I know that Mylar, Inconel and Velcro are real, so it's a toss-up between Dacron and Clyno.

After consulting an online source, I vote that Clyno is the imposter.

I have only heard some old-fashioned sailors and marketing people call it Dacron, everybody else has settled on polyester

You'll hear Dacron in the aviation industry, to refer to "naked cloth" coverings like you see on ultralights, in contrast to something like poly-fiber which is the modern equivalent of cloth and dope.
