Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

That's the problem with the politics of the USA One group wants higher prices of meat, and gas. Laws about safe working conditions. Environmental laws about dumping chemicals.
Second group wants lower prices on everything, wants bigger trucks, bigger houses, overseas vacations 4x year, eat more meat.
Though they both complain, they're complaining about two incompatible things.

If you polled most Democratic voters, just how many would endorse higher beef prices? Except for a handful of vegans and very left environmentalist folks, very few would say yes.
Does meat contribute to climate change? Yes. But it's a rounding error compared to the burning of fossil fuels for heat, transportation, and electricity. Raising the price of meat is the absolute lowest priority when it comes to fighting climate change. There are far more effective ways to spend finite political capital than going after people's dinner plates. Democrats don't even support jacking up gas taxes for environmental reasons. The approach has always been to subsidize green energy rather than tax fossil energy. The carrot rather than the stick.
The Democratic party is too big of a tent, trying to merge blue collar workers, academic hippies, and champagne liberals. It doesn't work, it is failing as a party.
Well we do have to find a way to work together. The Democrats vs Republicans conflict is an example of specialization vs generalization strategies.
Back in the mid 20th century and earlier, both parties catered to white straight married Christians. That group represented maybe 80% of the electorate, so both parties took the needs and desires of that demographic as a given. Before the Civil Rights era, most black people didn't have the vote, and straight white married Christian was the standard cultural model. If you weren't married, you probably aspired to be so. If you weren't straight, you were a social pariah at best and a felonious sex offender at worst. Being gay was literally a mental illness. Racial groups beyond black and white were similarly marginalized, as were faiths other than Christianity. This demographic was numerous enough and powerful enough that no politician could win office while offending their sensibilities.
Then society slowly changed, diversified, and opened up. More universal suffrage was achieved; more people started living alone. More people left Christianity, the LGBT rights movement happened, and racial and religious minorities proliferated through cultural shifts and immigration.
The parties responded to this with competing strategies. Republicans just kept doubling down on straight white married Christians. Anyone who either isn't all of these, or at least aspires to be these, fundamentally isn't welcome in the Republican party. This means everyone else has to become Democrat by default if they want any hope of having their voices heard by those in power.
It's not an ideal solution, but it's what we got. The country is much more diverse than in the past, but not so diverse that hyper specializing in the single largest unified demographic group is an nonviable strategy. It's even more so when Republicans are willing to stretch the definition of "white" to include some Hispanic and Asian people.
Until this is no longer a viable strategy, Democrats are just going to have to remain a big tent coalition party. And this makes for some awkward allies. Conservative black Christians have to find a way to work with radical queer anarchists. And vice versa. It's not a perfect solution, but it's what our first-past-the-post electoral system and national demographics require. Sometimes you just have to play the hand you're dealt.
