A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

If you could only use one lens for the rest of time what would it be?

Nikon 18-200. It might not be the most light sensitive lens out there, can only go down to 3,5 aperture, but other than that it's extremely versatile and it's the lens I use the absolute most just out of convenience.

I have the equivalent one for my Sony Alpha (APS-C), and have never looked back. Bought it for traveling, which is when I do most of my (hobby) photography, and it's just incredibly convenient! Every time a motive or some composition pops out at me, I can just shoot it straight away, there's never any limitation (at least for the things I tend to see). I'll trade that for a little bit of image quality any day of the week.

I usually carry a 35mm prime with me as well, if I really need to catch more light. They fit into my very compact camera bag together, and I just don't use anything else anymore.
