I dunno, I know a lot of people who can somehow only afford a horse. Maybe they are outliers

10% of the US is millionaires and wealth is quite segregated by location so depending on where you grow up or live, it's entirely possible to mostly only know rich people while most of the country lives paycheck to paycheck and a large amount of people can't afford healthcare. It's inequality again, yay

Just mentioning this because the thread itself and the person you responded about referred to the US. Not actually American myself.

In my experience horse people tend to be like motorsports people. Usually it’s a family thing and the basic needs for entry into the hobby are already met by the generational involvement in the activity.
