If it's not a saleable good/product, it doesn't qualify as theft when someone acquires it from a different source than one's "store", etc.

In a similar vein, the vast majority of "craft distillers" do nothing other than water down (aka "proofing") the bulk distillate they'd purchased from Jack Daniels, et al, and the simple fact that doing so makes it a saleable product enables them to claim "Produced and bottled in (location)", and people just slurp it down... 🤷🏼‍♂️
