I think they can use plausible deniability here because whatever was bothering Burrow before was not the same injury that took him out and therefore was not a "wrist problem". It could have been carpal tunnel for all we know. My wife wears a wrist brace at work for that. Maybe he was playing video games on the plane and just wanted to wear a brace so he wouldn't get any pain to crop up or something.
