Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person or their instance. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on. Keep on-topic

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Tesla will stop making the Cybertruck next year, according to CEO Elon Musk, who said on X that the company will use the factory space to build more two-seater Cybercab robotaxis.

The decision to wind down the futuristic, steel-clad EV comes after just a few short years of underwhelming sales. When Musk handed over the first few Cybertrucks in late 2023, he predicted Tesla would sell around 250,000 per year. It was supposed to be such a cornerstone of Tesla’s future that, before construction began, the company talked about its Texas factory as the “Cybertruck factory.” But Tesla has instead sold just tens of thousands — total — over the last three years.

Remember to point and laugh at every Cybertruck you see (while you can)! They knew who Musk was, and supported him anyway...

I’ve just been flipping them the bird from the get go. Going to continue that strategy

[–] Janx@piefed.social 1 points 8 hours ago

Please be careful out there. There's crazy people everywhere! Sure, they may go to prison if they shoot you, etc, but you only get one life...

[–] johncritzman@lemmy.world 39 points 19 hours ago (4 children)

I actually saw one of those 'I bought this before we knew he was crazy' stickers on one in the wild. Like, no buddy, you were fully aware of the monster he was at that point.

[–] Zagam@piefed.social 7 points 14 hours ago

Theres one that I pass sometimes that has a sticker that says "relax its a car. not a political statement". Like, no dude. You knew what you were doing. We all know what you were doing.

[–] irgendjemand@lemmy.world 18 points 19 hours ago

Right, that would only work for the oldest Teslas

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 10 points 17 hours ago

God i hate theae stickers. Who's "we"?

Tge other day i was behind a tesla who had a Nikola Tesla sticker on the back that said: &%#@ Edison. I absolutely loved the irony hatin on an imposter while driving the car of an absolute imposter shitstain.

Ignorance of the ~~law~~ Nazi is no defense.

[–] impabloblyjuan@lemmy.today 28 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

I legit thought i was the only person who did this! A guy near my office owns one and started to recognize me in my lesser ev and now it’s a race to see if i can point and laugh before he flips me off. Now i change it up on him and shake my head at him while wearing the biggest, shit eating grin.

Maybe it’s petty of me. Or maybe we need to bring public shaming back to counteract the Elmo brainworm all these sycophants have🤷🏻‍♂️

Open season on cybertruck owners. The car isn't as ugly as who they bought it from.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 10 points 17 hours ago

My friends and I recoil in disgust whenever we see one. I hope Cybertruck drivers see nothing but grossed out faces. It's the visual equivalent of stepping in dog shit

Point at them with your middle finger.

I'm kind of surprised at how many of them I see. I'm not sure it's just that they stand out so much or if I live in an area (Southern California) where they're more popular, but they're so awful in person that it's hard to get my head around.

[–] johnyreeferseed@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I live in Denver and I feel like I see them a lot as well.

[–] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.ca 1 points 8 hours ago

I guess if I think about it, it's a tiny fraction of the number of accords or stuff that I see. But their awfulness stands out so much that they always register.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

Norcal here. I see them kinda frequently. But we live in the most populous state in the nation and there's a lot of people here with funny money. I'm sure they're much rarer in other parts of the country. Definitely gonna be rarer now, lolz.

[–] nightlily@leminal.space 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I fortunately have never seen one IRL, even living in a European city where people have more cents than sense.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 4 points 16 hours ago

From what I understand, Cybertrucks aren't even allowed in Europe because they don't meet European car safety standards.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 0 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

I just call em Andriod Buttplugs

[–] Janx@piefed.social 1 points 13 hours ago

I think that's a sex doll.
