France has to crack down on fascism ... you know why? .... the people would literally burn the entire country down than allow fascism to raise its ugly head again in their country. They are the type of people that will rip up the asphalt and cobble stone, build walls and throw them at police to protest government.
The US think that they would do the same if it happened in their country but they'd rather wait until a full blown civil war is happening and government has directed drone strikes against their house ... but by then, there won't be much of a country left to save, or even have the remnants of a country worth saving.
And the French never forget.
In 2019 they vandalized 60% of all speed cameras in the country.
They are still pissed over speed cameras. And seemingly more upset over mobile automated speedtrap vans. 50k cameras vandalized and over 2.5k had to be scrapped due to damage costing the French government an estimated 177mil euros.
Simple things like this are why I love the French.
The Paris Fishwives march on Versailles is one of my favorite historical antecdotes. They basically walked up to the soldiers, disarmed them, then marched up to the king and court and told them what for!
Pretty sure it was unlearned 1804-1870, and again 1940-1944.
i'll grant you the prior but absolutely not the latter. the french resistance tied up german resources in the western mainland they couldn't afford to do
And then immediately after the war they went to town on Algerians. Look up "ici on noie Algeriens".
Their police was rebuilt by an honest to god fascist and just last election 33% percent voted for the far Right bloc. The French Far Right is currently stronger than then German one.
Local government still has a legal obligation to ensure that every town and village has a functioning bakery, so no-one has a revolutionary urge.
Are they required to bake cake?
And death, yes.
Yes, round our way the speed cameras are buried under a tower of tractor tyres. It's beautiful.
People really have no clue what's going on in France, huh.
Le Pen’s party got 30% of the votes last year. They won the popular vote. Just not enough constituencies to win the most seats. Fascism has raised its head already.
70% of votes being against them is no mandate. And it doesn't matter. Fascist parties should be banned in any democracy, since they exist to destroy democracy.
