[Seattle Times] 15 years after moving Sonics, now it’s the Thunder asking for publicly funded arena
(www.seattletimes.com)
Game analysis, highlights and everything else that is happening in the NBA.
the taxpayers shouldn't be footing that bill. okc needs to open up ownership and find a wealthy donor to help fund the cost of the new arena.
Your an idiot and that's not how that goes.
imagine asking taxpayers to fund a minimum of 900m for a new arena when roads are falling apart, public service programs are struggling, education is in need of reform and there's a country wide housing crisis.
a new arena is definitely the right investment to make for taxpayers though!
Oklahoma education, for you!
It's straight up extortion. As much as I hate OKC I never wanna see a city lose a team especially because of this bullshit.
No NBA team deserves to be moved more.
So not extortion?
Another tax base will pay for it. It’s called life.
That being said, I can't say I wouldn't love to see the Thunder moved back to Seattle for ostensibly the same reason they left.
This IS the way. Would love for this outcome.
And this time with those sweet sweet draft picks
Come to daddy
We don't want Clay Bennett in Seattle.
The owners are from Oklahoma. That’s not happening, imo. Plus this is going to pass anyways
It’s a true nothing burger. I still hate how it was perceived to be a good deal for the residents though.
Nothing related to MAPS has ever failed though
I would not like that at all.
As an A's fan, it is pure torture.
ok ownership is made up of some of the richest people in the state
and yet they only want to pay 50m towards the cost of the new arena and expect taypayers to pay 900m.
I'm okay with footing the bill because the city will own the arena, not some billionaire
And the billionaire will still have to pay rent to us for the thunder and we will able to get better music acts because of this arena
The tax rate is not going up at all from what it currently is
Finally someone gets it and actually understands how businesses work.
