If I were a player at Poole's level, I would probably see things the exact same way. Not every player is going to be a "top guy" kind of player, and to have been a meaningful contributor on a championship team (even if you're 3rd or 4th fiddle) while get paid would seem like a successful career to me.
You would be saying your legacy is set before you hit 25? I'm not saying he shouldn't be thrilled with how his life has turned out, but this just seems like preemptive excuse making
It’s more like being realistic. Yeah of course he’s gonna want to win and play well, but he’s aware that unless some wild opportunity shows up he’s basically gonna cap out at Michael Redd with a ring.
His legacy is cemented. He’s gonna forever be punching bag. His ring will be as lauded and respected as KDs. Anytime he mentions it folks will laugh a little bit to themselves before thinking: “Yep that’s good Jordan, you did help Steph get another one! Good job!”
This type of attitude might be why no one stood behind him.
Grizzlies fans still salty that he cooked your ass on the way to that ring 💀
