Every player has a mix of priorities. Mitchell will get his money wherever he goes, and I'm sure he would prefer a big market... but he seems like a guy where a winning situation is a high priority.
I think if he has playoff success with the Cavs he could resign there.
I don’t see how the Knicks or Nets puts him in more of a winning situation than the Cavs. If we’re being honest none of those teams are beating Boston or Milwaukee in a 7 game series unless injuries occur to star players. The bigger market opens up more endorsement deal opportunities for him, but not necessarily more opportunities to win a title. Cleveland makes the most sense in terms of winning, but not for anything else.
"unless injuries occur to star players"
Which is entirely likely over multiple years with Porzingis in Boston and Giannis + Dame in Milwaukee
That's why I'm semi-confident he's going to resign with the Cavs, unless they flame out in the first round again.
If they show improvement and have some playoff success, I'm not sure what bigger market team that wants to sign and trade for Mitchell gives him a better shot at winning.
