A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

Hello! I live in an area where winter is longer than summer. Looking for winter photography ideas! I hike a bit so last winter I did do a lot of winter photography in the mountains. But I'll be hiking less this winter and wondering what you guys usually do for photography during the cold weather seasons? Thanks! :)

I tend to go to several different parks in the city where I live and take snow and scenery photographs. Streets scenes can be fun also. I have slip on cleats for my boots. Good idea to have a spare battery. I usually take photographs for about 30 to 45 minutes, then go for lunch somewhere.

Another winter activity that's fun and inside, is to practice taking still life photographs.

Oh okay, thanks so much!! I have cleats so that would be an easy one for me. Hm, I haven't tried still life but that sounds cool too. Thank you!! We have lots of parks here but I haven't really explored them in the winter for photography, just walks!
