People who primarily use Instagram to post your professional photography and currently have 1k+ followers, how did you start getting the most views/likes to you page? (alien.top)

I just made a new Instagram account so I could pursue my astrophotography (and other random photos) hobby. I already posted 5 very nice photos within the first hour of seeing up my new account.

That was yesterday and I've noticed that despite the photos and the hashtags I've only gotten 2 likes on 2 of the 5 images I posted and I've had no profile views so far.

If I had posted on tiktok I would gotten alot of views and likes within minutes of posting. But to have nearly no likes and no views at all after hours later.

It gets really discouraging. Is there something I'm not doing? I try to use hashtags that are really active and use as many a I can but I find that no matter how many hashtags I use it won't make a difference.

Any one have advice how I can increase my chances of actually getting decent views/likes quickly and start growing my following?

The real question is anyone with 1k+ followers that is actually profiting from their time spent on instagram? I know it's nice to get recognition and all, but its a really soul sucking way to go about it.

I question how valuable Instagram is to photographers, or if it just distracts you from doing photography, because you're counting likes and trying to boost exposure on a site that wants you to PAY them for that.

I actually get a fair few brands and publications reaching out via Instagram (not the “you would love our new jewellery and 50% off codes for your followers” ones)

The thing with Instagram is that going into it in 2023, you’re battling against people’s already recognised taste. People complain about the algorithm but all it really does is put more of what you interact with, in front of you. If you’re new, your posts are an unknown entity and won’t get shown as often.
