Looks like it’s been stressed from either being set too tight for your head or from you always taking it off by just pulling on that sides cup. Or even just a fault in the material or batch of parts. Either way, something created an outward stress that broke the part in its way. Crazy how you’re being downvoted in the comments because people don’t believe damage is received in other ways than just dropping. Ask beyer for warranty coverage. Also replacement parts are plenty and easily installed, should they say no
Its a common issue with these really.
My DT990 also had this happen after about 3 years of usage, on both sides, and Beyerdynamic sent me replacement pieces after i contacted them about it, even though i was out of warranty
