I'd argue that Poole's breakout season in 21-22 was a detriment to him in the long run. He hasn't come close to playing the way he did that year, aside from a game or two.

Think the chip and the money got to his head as he's trying to play outside of his limits, but he doesn't realize that he's on that level yet. He's still a bench player IMO. Teams have tape on him now so it's much harder for him to do what he would do. Plus he doesn't have the 2nd unit + Steph to take the heat off him.

That contract was a mistake, he needed to prove more before getting it.

He was good down the stretch in 20-21. That was his actual breakout.

He went from G Leaguer to suddenly scoring a lot in the NBA, and it helped the Warriors get the 8th seed play-in spot. Backed it up with another solid season in 21-22. That's why he got the bag.

Unfortunately, his weaknesses have been amplified since then and his strengths haven't been enough to compensate.

Myers should have waited one more year before the contract. Even in 21-22, Poole was so streaky during the regular season. Go on a stretch of a couple great games and match it was some complete duds. Luckily for him (and the warriors) he hit a hot stretch during the playoffs.
