A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.
This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

From what I've been able to gather from talking to people that do instagram as a job.
Single photos don't make the algorithm unless you have a large following that consistently engage.
So, if you're looking to grow an account, you should be focused on reels and carousels.
3 photos seems to be the sweet spot for me.
I keep all the best photos as the album cover so to speak and then throw a few more in each one.
The longer people scroll through your post, the more the algorithm likes it. Same goes for what you're typing in the caption. One word is easy to skim and move on from. If it's a little longer, and they have to click see more, that's extra time on your post.
You want to keep people looking at it as long as possible.
Use 3-5 hashtags tops.
Post daily if you can.
At the end of the day, shoot for yourself, but if you're trying to grow a business, this is what seems to be working right now. I'm sure they'll change it soon because they always do.
